My pair of ringnecks have been working the nest box and feeding each other for the passed couple of weeks. but just been to check the birds and looks like my ringneck has layed her first egg from her perch not in nest box. does anybody know why she has done this?

Probably because she didn't know any better. Birds have to learn these things over time. What did she do with the next eggs?
