hello there, my friend recently bought an indian ring neck parrot, and shes trying to figure out if its a male or female, she got it from a pet shop, and the pet shop told her he wasn't sure because someone had given it to him to take care of, and then that someone told the pet shop owner to sell it and the petshop owner couldn't get back in contact with the bird owner for medical reports. I recently heard that you can kind of tell if its a male or female, but tests are required for 100% accuracy.

are there anyways to spot the male from the female? do males tend to have bigger heads or darker rings etc..

Hi there i responded to your other post and the easy way to tell is males get a ring and females dont.

There are some exceptions to the rule albino males wont get a ring and rec.pied wont either other then that at between 18 months and 3 years the males ring appears after a mult.

Hope it helps and at least you named it grumpy so it could be for a boy or girl.
