Unexpected news !
I am going to see the breeders that I got Kai from on the weekend. They have new babies hand reared and just ready to go, and they have a latino that they will sell to me, at a "for me only price", coz I am a past customer.
We should be bringing it home for My son this weekend as an early Xmas present, if the little one looks good. I am so excited.
I hope kai will learn to live with it eventually. We will house them seperately. My son wants his bird in his room

how cute. And he thought he was only going to get a love bird or budgie or something smaller and cheaper .. hehe
New pictures to grace the boards soon.
Cheers !

Babygirl:
I dont want to turn anyone in this world off of ringnecks, however from personal experience, I know these arent birds for kids. I originally got a ringneck because our 11 yr old wanted it so badly.
It became my bird because noone else had the balls to go near it.
May I recommend a cockatiel IF you are getting a bird just for your boy. I got the kids a 'tiel and they love him. Chief also loves the boys.
I have two ringnecks and it seems as if kids un-nerve them too much for them to tolerate and my kids are laid back.
If you chose to get the baby, please be ready to take it on 150% as yours. Im afraid it will come to that.
Never saw myself as a 'bird person' but Jordan wanted Baby and we bought her. He or anyone else would/will go near her so I became a bird person... now I couldnt imagine myself without one.
Us Moms have to stick together, thus I had to add my 2 cents. If he is the slightist bit scared of your current bird, getting a new one wont assure anything other than having another bird.
Otherwise, congratulations and you know we CANT wait for pics. Brave lil man to take on such a creature.

Thanks for your concern darlin. He loves Kai to death and cant wait to have his own. Really did want a bird that would learn to talk and do tricks and stuff. Plenty of other family members to take over if things turn sour, number one being my eldest daughter who is a fantastic surrogate for Kai. *kisses*

You are SO lucky to have an involved family. Noone in my family will so much as change a water dish or replace her back on her stand.
I swear, they would be less afraid of a rattle snake. I only wish I was kidding.

I am very lucky that way. Infact I am more concerned about how kai will react to the new baby in the house.

Yeah just visit my house. Jay and I built another cage because the babies are getting big enough to fly so we can just leave them in the room. So thats ... 4 baby ringnecks, 4 not so baby but not adult ringnecks, 4 sun conures and 5 Princess Parrots, and 1 cockatiel. The overflow at my mums house is about another 20 birds.

I'll take some tonight when I get home from this prison called work.
I stress this because I have hurt babies at home. Keep them seperate till they love each other, always let them out together under supervision.

Getting back to Kyria's original matter!!
My son, Lonnie, is 10 in January. He adores Chook. They hated each other in the beginning, especially around the bluffing stage (Lon was easily bluffed) but now (Chook is 2) they are best of friends. In fact, Chook sometimes sleeps in Lonnie's room at night. I think that kids just need to learn how to handle IRNs and learn how to be calm and not flinch and then all will be ok.
Thats my opinion anyway

Yeah ! thanks Jade .. and thank you all for your input and thoughts .. its always good to rethink every angle before heading into a 30 year experience.
Mitchell is showing signs of being a great buddy to JOrdan, I know there will be times where I need to step in for a while, during bluffing or stages that they both go through. But overall I feel that they will be great Buddies.
Anyway .. if all falls in a heap, whats two ringnecks to one Woman
P.S. did I tell you I am on the hunt for Brinly
Who is or what is Brinly ? Its a budgerigar, one of those big fat headed ones. I just have to find it , but I know Brinly is out there, because I already have its name waiting .. how weird is that. And Mordecai is my future (if I can ever afford it, ekkie)

Did you go and see the baby this weekend?
I do love the lutinos, I had 5 to pick from when I got my Besso and one was a lutino, but she ( DNA female) was a bit more fiesty so I passed. I was lucky and got to pick from 5 different colors...lucky me. The gray one was the sweetest on me but I went with Besso here and I haven't regretted it a bit.
Good luck if you get a new baby!!
