Blood Feathers?

I still haven't learnt this site fully yet, I couldn't see if there was a 'bird health' or medical section...so I apologise if this thread belongs in a different area!

I have noticed that my albino IRN has (what i THINK is...) two massive blood feathers...one on each wing. I'm wondering, does the blood come out of the feathers or do they need removing? They aren't broken, you can just see the shaft of the feather is pink...so i thought that means it's full of blood?

I'm not certain! I haven't had experience with blood feathers yet so i'm not sure if that is indeed what i'm seeing ^_^ Any advice would be great :)

leave the blood feathers alone, unless they get broken then they will need pulling. All birds have blood feathers its how feathers grow once they have grown then the vein that supply's the blood dries up and the feather becomes like the rest of the other feathers. These are completely normal.

Thankyou kindly! I was hoping that would be the response, i'm not game enough to try holding her to remove the feathers until she's less bitey haha. Thanks :)
