testing for splits

Post by Louie »

Is there any way to test for splits in Ringnecks other than doing a test breeding? Possibly DNA testing??
I currently own: 1 male, green Indian Ringneck, 1 Labrador Retriever, 1 Mini Lop rabbit and 4 backyard chickens (silkies)

Hi there i believe there is but i dont think it is as cheap as sexing.

As you can see there are genetic codes that are in each bird so it can be extracted.

1.0 grey(sf) green cinnamon /blue
x 0.1 blue pallid cinnamon G+/G;cin/cin;bl+/bl;
cin/Y;bl/bl;inopd/Y;
% from all 1.0 Genetic Code
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue cinnamon /pallid G+/G;bl/bl;Xcin/Xinopd-cin;
25.0% 1.0 blue cinnamon /pallid bl/bl;Xcin/Xinopd-cin;
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green cinnamon /blue pallid G+/G;bl+/bl;Xcin/Xinopd-cin;
25.0% 1.0 green cinnamon /blue pallid bl+/bl;Xcin/Xinopd-cin;
% from all 0.1 Genetic Code
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue cinnamon G+/G;bl/bl;Xcin/Y;
25.0% 0.1 blue cinnamon bl/bl;Xcin/Y;
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) green cinnamon /blue G+/G;bl+/bl;Xcin/Y;
25.0% 0.1 green cinnamon /blue bl+/bl;Xcin/Y;

Thanks Glenn
