My name is Natalie and I'm from South Africa.
My fianceè gave my a baby IRN for Christmas. He is a green IRN, about six weeks old now. He is the most adorable little thing, and his name is Choppie. (Weird name, I know, but my fianceè chose it.)
I stumbled onto your website while I was looking for info on how to handfeed IRN's. I just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful and informitave website, it has helped me so much.
I am actually confident now when it comes to feeding Choppie.
Just a quick question, I see that the average age to wean your IRN is about eight to ten weeks, but I am already weening mine.
I have taken away it's syringe, and feeding it by spoon only. Inbetween the avi plus formula I also give it some banana which he eats by himself. Is it too early to start weening him?
He is also not interested in any toys of any sorts, when I let him out of his cage he keeps on practising to fly. He has got most of his feathers, just missing one or two wing feathers and most of his back is still grey fluff. Is this flying thing normal at his age?
I know it might sound a bit paranoid, but I just want to make sure he grows up safely and healthy.
Once again, thank you for such a great website
