Bird Shipping in the USA?
Alright, so I searched on here for any information regarding the shipment of birds in general in the USA and I couldn't find anything, so I figured I would ask. I've FINALLY found the perfect IRN addition for my family after months of searching, but the only problem is that he is located in Alabama while I am in South Dakota. The lady who owns him says she is not familiar with bird shipping either, but has a friend who has done it before who uses Delta so that is what she would ship with too. She told me it would cost about $200 plus the cost of a crate to get him here...kinda expensive! That's over double what I'm paying for the bird himself :-/ I was hoping that there are possibly some breeders on this site who have shipped, or even IRN parents who got their baby shipped to them who can help me out here; maybe tell me where you are located in the USA/where your bird was shipped from and how much it costed though the airline used? I'm praying for some cheaper options - I truly believe this is the right bird for me and would hate for a lousy shipping price to get in the way ;( Thanks in advance for any help!

shipping by delta cost around $90-$110 depending on the weight you can also ship by continental airlines but i don't know their prices. delta has temperature cutoffs(won't ship if too cold) but I don't think cont. does go to delta airlines website and go to cargo section and you can get info and phone #s to your nearest airport and the shippers airport and you can find out the approximate cost and flight times to know when it leaves and will arrive. i have received birds by delta 3 times and it hasn't cost more than $95 at anytime. i live in louisiana and gotten a bird from oregon , 1 from calif. , and 1 from oklahoma and the shipping containers cost from $15-$30 depending on the person shipping and what they use hope this helps you and you are able to get a bird also if the shipper still says it cost $200 to ship get them to send it where you pay the shipping cost at the cargo terminal when you pick up bird instead of paying the shipping cost to the breeder but then they may not be close to an airport and charging $200 to also pay the cost of driving to airport and home good luck mike

Thankyou so much! That was extremely helpful. I called Delta today and they said that it should cost around $92.00 +the $20.00 I will be paying for the crate. I'm really hoping everything works out (especially that the weather cooperates). Thanks again!
