I posted earlier about my 6 year old IRN's plucking problem. Thanks to all the useful information people shared with me. Something worked because he is not plucking as much anymore. Do 6 years molt?

There is another problem though. For some reason, he won't perch on my finger when I ask him to. Taelon is a very lovable and tame bird and he never did this before. Now whenever I take him out I have to trick him into sitting on my finger so I can put him back in the cage... otherwise he wont go back in willingly. One of the problems is that we are not able to give him as much time out of the cage as we would like due to a new baby in the family. Secondly, I think the untamed parrot that keeps him company is a bad influence on Taelon as he is learning to nip like her with my mom and dad (he still doesn't bite or nip at me).

I am a little worried. Can someone help??????

They can and will pick up habits from cagemates. I don't consider IRNs to be one of the species you can keep with flockmates and still have a completely tame bird.

As you said, he isn't getting as much time out of the cage as he was. He knows you're putting him back in the cage and he's saying he doesn't want to go back yet! Remember that your parrot is a thinking, feeling creature and considers itself part of your family too. He knows he's getting less attention and doesn't know why, so he's protesting in a very simple way to let you know he wants more time with you.
