So things were going along great with Skye. Suddenly, two weeks ago, she decides she wants NOTHING to do with me. She will step up to everyone else who walks through the door and let everyone else touch her, but she would rather gnaw her own foot off than be around me. Now I feel like I am her Cinderella, fetching her food and water and cleaning up her poop and getting absolutely no affection. She has grown quite attached to my husband, who didn't care about getting a bird. So do I just back off and be thankful she has an attachment to someone in the house? Naturally I am feeling hurt but can't show it.
Advice please?

IRN's normally go through bluffing after weaning, but bluffing can happen up to 12 months old I think (correct me if I'm wrong).

Is Skye just ignoring you or attacking you when you try to pick her up? Have you changed anything about your appearance?

If I walk close to my husband she will walk to the other shoulder away from me. If I come into the room she will fly away fro me (as much as she can fly...she's clipped). If I go near her cage, she will go the the corner farthest away from the door and sit quietly. As long as I don't try to touch her she has stopped lunging. It was a micro-speck better today. She did not bite me once, but I did not attempt to touch her either. I miss my Skye.

And no I haven't changed my appearance.
I think I've figured out why she got like this. I mentioned in my intro that the hubby and I run an in-home daycare. There is this one mom who resembles me. She is way higher energy than we are, even with a houseful of kids. She comes in and beelines for Skye's cage, even if Skye is sleeping. She has been startled awake more than a few times. I've finally told the mom she does not get to bother Skye anymore. Four days ago I had Skye on my shoulder, this mom walks in and Skye leaned over and took a nip of my lip.
So now I get to go back to square one with Skye. Thing is, Skye chose us so there wasn't any of that until recently.

glad you have figured out why. most of the time a behaviour change in the bird is a result of a change somewhere else. Even moving the cage can affect their behaviour.

Good on you for telling the lady not to go near her, I would do the same if someone did that to my bird as well.

Best of luck in getting in her good books again, and remember food is the key.
