Hi,
I have been breeding birds for awhile now mainly tiels, budgies, finches and neophemas and thought id try IRN... well actually i thought id just buy some peachies and i went over to the breeders house and he was also selling off his pair of blue IRN because he had to move to QLD and I thought WOW!!! and just brought them... and then i relaised i dont really know much about IRN... Is it ok to house them together all year round?? because i only have one aviary for them... The hen has already had two clutches this year and is looking to go down for a third...should i be letting her do this??

housing them together is ok if its just one pair, IRN hens become very agressive in breeding season

A friend of ours had a pair of IRNs who ripped the heads off his quails and proceeded to throw them back and forth between each other... is that common? or just a pair of birds with way too much time on their hands?

There are a lot of birds that cannot be housed with Quails. Ringnecks are one of them.

When you get your pair of Ringnecks, the Hen will most likely lose interest of breeding, new environment will be the major part in this happening. If she does still seem interested, don't give them a nest boxes. 3 clutches for a Ringneck is too much and she could end up egg bound

At my old house I used to have quails in the bottom of all of my permanent aviaries - including the ringnecks. The ringys didn't worry about the little guys, but my dog did! We had to plant hedges in front of the aviaries because the dog was going nuts!
