I got a male IRN about 6 months ago and the people at the pet store said he was about 7 months old. As i read more into IRN i am seeing that it takes about a year or more for them to get their rings. I was obviously lied to at the pet store. Can someone please help me to determine how old he is? Or point me in the right direction please!!!
Thank you,
Nick

Hey, there is no really accurate way to tell an Indian Ringneck's age visually until about 2-3 years of age, Male will display
a black/pink ring and female will display a faded lighter ring that blends with her feather colour, also sometimes you can tell
if the male shows signs of dancing, bowing his head, pinning his eyes or having his wings shaped as a heart.
These methods are not always accurate which is why if you really wanna know the sex before the 2-3 year mark you should
DNA test them, I believe this can be done at a vet clinic.
Hope that answers your question.

The ring can show up anywhere btwn the ages of 1-3. Ours didn't show until after two years I believe.
