hello guys thought Id give u guys an update on Archie.I noticed in the mornings when I cleaned and replenished his cage the !st thing he would go for was the fruit and veggies so I decided on holding back the veggies etc and feed them to him at intervals during the day......archie is now coming to take them from me through the bars yay!!!!!!!!!!!

I plan to start putting food in my hand in the cage in a few days once Archie starts approaching with less caution. baby tiny steps.....
Then I can start to train him proper once he trusts me more

Archie is still very quiet tho which I dont think is normal as Ive heard they make heaps of noice I do catch him (when he doesnt think Im paying attention) jabbering to himself.

Archie has taken to pacing his cage backward and forward like a paternal dad sometimes for what seems an age

can anyone tell me if this is normal behavior or is he having some kind of breakdown ?

Hey Mumzy, that's great that he is taking food from your hand and putting his absolute favorite foods in your hand is a great way to entice him! Good baby steps. Sukha sometimes paces his cage in the morning before I let him out. I was worried at first too but he seems fine otherwise, but I'm not an expert so wait to hear from one of the more knowledgeable people for that verdict.

Also something I've found very bonding with Sukha and a great way to keep screeching down (at least until he starts talking) and by jabbering back, as long as I don't find the conversation annoying. I'll mimic the same little noises he makes and maybe put in a chitter or two on my own and over a few days he's learned to reciprocate and seems to enjoy it! I think this reaffirms the flock mentality and flock communication is one of birds favorite things right? Besides I like the little chitter chatter and conversations!

thanks for your reply Ive been having fun with my baby we have started clicker training using a chopstick as the target he gets really excited tho his attention span is short about 5mins each session so iI havent pushed it further than that ...... so all in all things are looking good.
I also took your advice about chatting to Sukha too we often chatter and I try to mimic some of his playful actions too
