Just sitting here reading, tuesday afternoon 12.39pm 15th November. The kids are home from school because of a statewide teachers strike against the government trying to change workplace conditions.

My eldest daugher has just put foils in my hair to freshen up the colour because next monday I am sitting as a model for a portrait painting for the Bass Coast Art society  should be an experience.

I had to put kai back in his cage while we did the foils, chemical smell and all. But across in the other room, I can still see the silly bugga, he has a whole big bowl to bath in, but where is he bathing, in his drinking water, SIGH! what a nut job. I bet he goes and drinks from the bath bowl now, lmao.

I can't believe how close Christmas is. This will be a real first for me, I found Christianity about 6 months ago so this Christmas will be very special indeed. Its really hard having hubby as an athiest though, but we are praying hard for him. He really doesn't like change, he said I was just fine the way I was, he loved me just the way I was for the last 25 years, but says anything is ok with him so long as it makes me happy. :D and it does, (but ultimately its not about him or me  )

Well I have to go and wash out these foils soon.

Cheers all !

I LOVE foil hi-lights but I have to pay 200.00 every other month. I would love to be able to ax this from the budget. Your daughter may even have to charge more, depending on location. I would imagine that would affect service prices.

Is this something one can do themselves? I wouldnt know where to foil. Is there a pattern, trick, some kind of way of knowing that can be explained in text?

This is what my guy does. The base color is my regular color and the lighter is of course the high lights.

Image

I twist my hair complusively. Didnt realize it when I took the pic.

I would be FOREVER in debt to you and your daughter!

I ran into a lady in the title company I use today and she said she has had her Christmas tree up for two weeks. Talk about eager hehe.

My family always puts our tree up on my b-day. :D
My son and I have always done this since he was a baby boy and when we all became the Brady Bunch the tradition perptuated.

My granny always put our Charlie Brown x-mas tree up on my b-day so doing so makes me feel closer to her.

God bless you for finding Jesus. -big hug- May I ask if an event took place as a catalyst? Or what inspired your journey?

Well my 16 year old girl just completed a course in VET Hairdressing (VET not being animal related .. lol) and has done her work hours of experience to complete it at the salon here in town so I am one lucky lady. She loves experimenting too. I often have a head full of braids or have my hair straightened (I am curly) or put up like I am going to a wedding. She just loves it.

The foil thing can be done very easily at home if you are willing to give it a go. Foils are really cheap at hairhouses, priceline or chemists here in Aust. and depending on the result you can get any type of clours, perm, semi, bleaches , creams there is so much (too much) to choose from. A bowl and a brush which cost all of about $2 each to put the colours into.

Full head is usually done by making two parts from the temple back, putting the sides up in pony tails to keep out of the way and then taking slices of hair from the forehead backwards, sliding a foil under, painting the hair slice with colour then wrapping the foil left side in right side in fold in half upwards and fold again, making a flat square foil, alternating with at least two colours, or one colour and your natural hair (so slicing one to colour then slicing natural hair you don't colour and so on).

This site explains it also

http://www.fashionindia.net/beauty/hair ... ghting.htm

this following sites are just to show you the foils being put in.

http://www.salondaily.com/us/trends/col ... _0020.html

http://www.smartcolour.info/colourinspi ... stech.html

or you can try toning kits like these with instructions

http://www.smartcolour.info/products/multitonnal.html

We sometimes experiment with just using gloves, picking up pieces of hair all over the head and smothering them in colour.

check out this twist technique, could be fun

http://www.lanza.com/images-inf/solutio ... wisted.pdf

anyway.. I hope this helps for gaining a better idea. Or maybe I have just confused you more.

Oh and alot of the time you can go to the hair colleges, they have days where you can have your hair done for free, just to take the risk and let the students trial on you.

Cheers!

Andrea (Angie)

P.S. my daugher practices on her sister and friends aswell

Mikaela a really basic rundown because my whole story is rather indepth and very powerful (dunamas).

After nearly 40 years of searching and learning secularism, humanism, darwanism and world religions, looking for a purpose or reason, a few major events lead to the holy spirit revealing to me the truth.

I suddenly understood creation and it was wonderful. I am full of life and love like never before and I will never be the same. I am new and I love who I have been created.

I am very scriptural and not concerned with Religion but know church (fellowship) is very important, I do like to be with people that edify God.

Godbless

As do I...

Jesus love me THIS I know :!:

And I am glad your bible too, told you so. :D

If I didnt know God, noway would I have been the type of person to raise all of these children. I didnt sign up for this hehe. Some days I feel used. More like a Nanny than a wife. Jen can probably relate.

I love these youngens though and as long as there is air in my body I will teach them the tools they need to succeed in this sick world.

I love my husband, dont get me wrong. But, sometimes I ask myself, 'Am I in love with him or his kids'. He works out of town alot so without me, he would be really screwed. I ask myself this because I know if I was ever left with the choice of being with him or being with the kids, I would chose to be without him and keep HIS kids lol.

They need me. I am ball-to-the-walls. I take no sh*t. I give no sh*t. They know what is expected and they do it or deal with me. They would rather jump over a bridge than to go toe to toe with me. They now know what is expected and have stablity. Even little Jared (5 yr old) has his 5 yr plan together. We review it on Birthdays and see what progress we have made or if our goals have changed. I am a stickler for 5 yr plans. All about consistancy. They know if they screw up, they are going DOWN. But with their Mom and Dad it is never consistant. They may get on restriction for saying a bad word one day and it be ignored the next.

Some people are too soft to be good parents. They definately are. In her case, she is too stupid and drunk. But, with her Juvenile Diabetes and excessive drinking I have a feeling she wont have the opportunity to see her kids grow up. That saddens me for she and them and I plead to her often, nothing ever changes.

Their Mom is a bar hopper and their Daddy is a lay-down. I am the thorn in their side keeping them all on track but the odd thing is, it is me they love need and want when things happen good or bad. Dad doesnt get this because he says 'You are so hard on them and I expect nothing of them but to be kids.'

Kids cant care for themselves. It is our responsibility to make them men. I have done this with 2 and the other 2 are just babies but I am already preparing them.

Wow, therepy... thanks yall!

Next! *giggle*

-sigh- I have no motivation today.

Is it just me or has people stopped posting as often? Is everything ok between everyone?

Baby_Bella: I have never had a facial, they work wonders? I have been considering microderm abrasion. They have home kits now. Dont know how well they work but I understand its good for you.

Ladies:

You know how we go through these 'I need a change' episodes? Well, had one yesterday. All of my hair has always been one length, no bangs.

I took the boys to get their hair cut and this lady kept telling me about 'sideways bangs' and how they take 10 years off anyone, blah blah blah. So, after the kids cheering me on and her offering to do it for free I said what the h@ll.

Well, it did make me look much younger but they are DRIVING ME INSANE. I am NOT use to having short hair around my face. They are very small bangs, nothing dramatic but I can see them in my eyes and I am going INSANE. Maybe only 50 hairs underneath my longer hair so it isnt a HUGE change, just not getting use to it.

Is this something I will get use to? I love the way it looks it is just driving me crazy! I am use to being able to tye all of my hair back off my face and now I have these long bangs on one side all in my field of vision!

Does take years off though so if any of you ladies need a change, this is a small one that makes a HUGE difference. Who knows, maybe now I'll buy some makeup or something. Aint no spring chicken anymore :(

But, I dont know how to put it on or what each item is used for.

Told you on this thread anything goes hehe.

You should get use to them after a while.. I just hate when they grow long enough on me to tickle my cheeks just under my eye, annoys the crap out of me.

Darlin I have warn makeup since I can remember, full face, barely a day I go outside without it, unless its just around home and even then, I don't feel normal in the morning until I have put my face on. <action>start imagining the cost over the past 25 years

Thats why I never used it cuz granny said if I never did I would never have to.

Still not sure what that means. My husband HATES it if my friends do me up in more than mascara and tinted lip gloss. Says it takes away instead of adding, which is what make-up is suppose to do.

Eyeliner is to open your eyes, it makes mine look more slanted. Hard to explain.

I do keep my nails pretty though and my hair straightened. Thats about as 'fixed up' as I get. Native Americans look weird with that stuff you put all over your face. It makes us look plastic almost.

I need to get my teeth whitened. That would work wonders. And maybe a peal or something. -sigh- We are too hard on ourselves ladies.

My arm/hand is all healed now :). That was a while back, and I had taken a nasty spill and broken a bone. That was my splint while all the swelling came down enough to treat... what a horrible thing to go through.

Thank you for asking.

Home accidents are awful. You just dont expect stuff to happen at home. That is your only safe place.

I am an over-protector and see danger around every bend and it gets on my husbands last nerve, he sees nothing.

I have been lucky but have almost slipped in the bathroom. That could be lethal... scared me.

I slipped in an area I knew was dangerous, just not paying enough attention. My husband had fallen there the year before, twisting his ankle really badly...

The worst part about breaking a bone was trying to keep up with the birds care one handed. I kept finding myself trying to use the hurt arm and then whacking a finger or something on a cage... dropping me to my knees in pain. I had to just lay off for 2 whole weeks, having my kids do some of my chores and the birds went without me making any new toys or adjustments to cages. It was just not fun.

I'm just starting to learn the dangerous spots in the new house, one of them being the stairs. They are tiled and I've ended up pinwheeling my arms a couple times already... even with a handrail I just get going to fast and don't pay enough attention.

Luckily, my husband is a dear about looking out for danger for me. Because I'm diabetic I heal slowly so he's very careful about me hurting myself... and when I do get hurt he's all over fixing whatever it was that I did it on.

Hey guys,

Well, just thought I'd let you all know to be very wary of buses should you see them on the road. Apparently they don't know when they have run into other vehicles and force them off the road.

Yesterday on my way home, a bus sideswiped me and force me up onto the footpath....he kept driving. Luckily another driver stopped, asked if I was okay, and then gave chase to the bus. Bus driver reckoned he didn't know he hit me, then he didn't see me, then he thought I was speeding and didn't give him room.....liar. I drive a 2 tonne Toyota Hilux 4x4 not a little car or anything and he would have felt it for sure.

What a **** of a day eh??

Bus drivers seem to be really arrogant and think they own the road. Your story does not surprise me at all. I have heard many and had close calls myself. There is one particular High school bus driver that really does just get on my nerves :x (deep breath  calm down Ange)

Buses will run you over here too. I have always thought it was because they figured they could bully their way over but they do it to my man and he drives a Hummer so I am somewhat convinced there ARE alot of blind spots.

We are lucky here though, we have lanes for the buses to pull over into, in most places as to not hold traffic up but I'll tell you, when they pull off they go... regardless of what is coming. You stop or eat a bus so yeah... probably a bit of arrogence there.

Welcome back and glad to hear you are all healed.

Jen Post some pics of the snow when/if you can , would love to see it.

Our winter just gone saw snow here that stayed for the night, for the first time in something like 90 years (freak events) and snow ON the beach for the first time ever ! And for South Gippsland Victoria thats pretty weird.

Kids loved it though we went driving around and let them play in it, it was like winter wonderland for 24 hours. I have pics somewhere but they are on hubbies computer and its off right now. Plus I have to run the kids to school in a minute.

Catch you all soon

The kittys are really getting around now. They are fun to watch. Mom isnt really ready to let them roam so she tries to get them to stay in the basket. She isnt having much luck lately.

They are all fat and healthy. I think we have decided to get them all fixed and keep them. Noone can decide which we like best.

Any thing new with anyone else :?:

Hello everyone,
Woo Hoo it's Friday! And it's 2:23 p.m. Only a couple more work hours left and it's the weekend. Yippee! Been a long week for me.

Byndi once again bit the crap out of me twice last night. Little brat! Discovered that Remmi really likes grapes. I got some "holiday" grapes. Whatever they are. They are HUGE that's for sure. And he loves 'em. They're really juicy and I swear he was drinking the juice before he ate them. It was strange to watch. He also tried some broccoli. Not too sure on that. He likes bananas too and apple. What a healthy baby I have. He's still kind of flighty. But he's learning. You say step up now and his little right foot will lift up in the air just waiting for a finger to step up on. It's so cute. He really does it if he's already on your hand. If he's in his cage or on top of his cage or on the playstand then the chase is on. It's funny cuz he'll scoot down the perch as far away from me as he can get so I go to that end to have him step up and he scoots the other way. He's so cute.

Well I've rambled enough. Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

In cockatiels, is head bobbing a sign of male behavior?

He also opens his mouth like he is yawning when he does it, usually.

Any thoughts?

It is very cute, he makes his little 'beard' puff up when he does it. It is always when he first sees that I am coming to get him.

I thought he had something in his throat the first few times but days later he still displays this behavior.

Hey Mikaela,
Does Chief kind of twist his head when he's doing the opening his mouth thing with his beard? Milo does this ALL the time. And he's trying to feed me when he does it. I've had him almost "feed" me several times. Ick. But he loves me. And I love him so much. He is the coolest little bird. So happy to be alive and loves everyone. He's in the living room right now just whistling away. So cute. And it just melts my heart when I come home from being somewhere and the first words out of his little mouth are, "I love you." So sweet!

Take care,
Jen

He shakes his head after doing it as if to say no but he is very cooporative so I know he doesnt know what he is doing.

It is like: Puffs up beard, bobs head, yawns like then head shake.

He too is so in love with everyone. Tiels rock! Feel sorry for the fool that buys an IRN thinking it can be handled as well as a 'tiel. HA! Poor souls, in for a huuuuuuge surprise!

All four of my boys came down with the pink-eye this weekend. In the US that means no work or school until it is cleared up by a Dr. :!:

Our constitution, which grants us a public education, is the only thread that holds this fiber together :!: All four of them at home all week :?:

Just kill me now but go for 'one shoot one kill'.

I need me some of those 'happy pills' all the ladies around here talk about. Or some call them 'Mommies little helpers'. Not sure what they are but I dont think they are legal, excuse me, used legally. I assume they mean RX drugs that make you feel happy -shrug-. All of these prissy a@@es around here are a bunch of pill popping mini-vaners. They aint got me fooled. (meaning my area, not the board)

Mrs. Morgan was sweeping her porch the other day and her broom wasnt even touching the ground... Now THATS is high -giggle- She takes alot of that Vicoden stuff. I dont know what that is, but it sure makes her a sweetie ha!

After the DR visit, how long will my boys be cleared up moms and dads :?: Their is a stigma attached to this as is lice. Yall have seen my house. It is clean underneath the clothes, toys, 'tiel dust and ect. I am being hard on myself. No telling how they got it.

The 17 yr old came home with it first, kissing all of those nasty girls. :? Then, then baby whom wallers all over the 17 yr old got it. Then the 11 yr old came from his friends and played with the 5 yr old and got it. Then the 11 yr old went to see the 15 yr old with me as I dropped some stuff off to him at a friends, now hes got it. He was over there as NOT to get it.

Now, my turn, Im sure. But Daddy never catches anything because he is running the roads trying to make a dollar but when the chips fall, it is I that has to pretend I have no career and stay with my babies. Ok, a little hostitlity there. Deep breath.... ahhh free therepy.

BTW, I was kidding about the pills, I know they can be very addictive but sometimes I consider it which is bad but four kids and a house full of pets will kill you if you let them. As will pills so I would rather die by the hands of my own children, thereby, riddling them with guilt. HA

Thanks ya'll!

My camera is a Fuji Finepix it has 5.2mp 3x optical zoom.
James wanted to get me a camera and we shopped for weeks, we had a strict limit moneywise and obviously wanted the best for the $$$ it was only $299 and has reasonable spec so we got this one.

It is not the best but it does the job and I get some great photos from it. Digital is great because I can snap till my hearts content!

Ooh we are off to buy props for the photo shoot.... soo excited, so is Datsun!!

Wanna hear something sad, funny, pathetic?? John and I just bought a new digi camera a week ago and we already have 96 photos taken and they are of JUST the animals! Now tell us all that we aren't the least bit addicted to our critters! The bad thing about digi cameras is just that, 96 pictures and we still have tons of room left on the card. So if you want to develop these pics. it will be a tad costly. Anyway... Can't wait to see your holiday pics Chamon! You are so cute with Dats! Love it!

Here in Aust. you can take the card or a CD to any Big W or processing lab and they will print for 20cents a copy, but make sure they print them 4.5 x 6 .. not the standard 4 x 6 because digi is slightyly wider on the standard print than neg pics and you will end up with cropped images on the width.

Besides will you be wanting all 96 photo's printed, or simply note the numbers of the images you want printed and let the store know.

We do our own too but that can be more expensive in ink and paper now than having them done for you :(

Posted: Sun Nov 20, 2005 5:50 pm
by Mikaela
In America, we e-mail the photos and they are there when we get there.

Also 20 cent a piece but you cant print them much cheaper at home. That paper is expensive!

Hey Chamon: my man is looking on e-bay for the Fuji Finepix it has 5.2mp 3x optical zoom. I will use it for the birds and kids (closeups) and the other one for like the boat, beach, places it may get damaged. It takes great pics you can JUST NEVER get the subject zoomed well. Always too close or too far. The exposure is always too much or too little. I dont know a heap about technology so I bought the Samsung... again, ok camera for like landscape pics but not for subject pics.
