Hi Everyone.

My Blue pair of IRN's laid 4 eggs.Two eggs hatched but found them died today.
The other two eggs are not fertile.
Will my hen lay more eggs this season?
I live in Sydney Aust.

try removing the eggs and take the nest box out for a couple of days. They may double clutch.
Did the chicks look like they had been fed ? was there anything else that didnt look right with them?

It is still early in the breeding season, chances are the parents could go for a second clutch.

There could be a number of reasons why the chicks died, first time parents, chicks not fed properly, parents spooked from nest at night and did not get back, sickly chicks and the parents knew.....the list is endless.

I had a hen that sat tight, hatched her chicks but 3 of the 4 died. I took the remaining hatching egg from her and placed it under another hen that had dud eggs. The chick hatched and I still have her today.

Hope the parents have better luck if they lay again.

The Hen was a first time mum maybe she did not feed them?
I hope she will lay again this season.
Should i take out the breeding box-then place it back in after a few day.
The male is keen but the hen wont let him go on top of her.
I have a spare hen should i replace her ? cheers
