Here is the stand my Dad and I built for my IRN's. It is on wheels so they can go from room to room with me. I have modified it a little since this picture, but they love it.

I think natural wood playstands are much better for the bird anyway. :)

There are heaps of designs you can do using natural branches and wood, (and cost is almost nil if you have access to safe tree branches).

Here are a few links with ideas..

Also I think a few members have posted pics of their home made stands on this forum.

Thanks Maria! It's pretty basic, but then again it was pretty cheap as well. You could make it yourself, I've made all of my animal stuff all by myself just fine without hubby's help (he's more of an electro-gadget guy)! Sometimes with men if you want it done right or at all, you gotta do it yourself! I'm thinking of making a training stand and a table stand with PVC as well. I already made a hanging playstand out of a 6 rung pant hanger quite easily. Working on posting that to the thread I mentioned so it's not up just yet, but I have it in my phone waiting to upload.

Hey, anyone know how to safely affix rope (like sisal rope) to PVC? I,m making a playhouse (playstand in the shape of a house) for Sukha and I want to wrap some with rope but want to be safe. :)

Nothing? Anyone? I know to start out I can just wrap the rope around the end, but what about when finishing? Aquarium caulking, elmer's glue or what?!

>>Ok from experimenting I'll answer my own question. I cut a V notch at each end and jammed the rope into the V, pushed the PVC into the joint piece and twisted the rope around the tubing keeping it tight, shoving it down the piping as I went to get it as crammed as possible. At the end I tightened everything up some more, shoved the rope into the last notch and joined it with the next joint. Viola, no glues no nothing, but it stayed! :)

Here's what the Bird House playset looks like so far. Under the stairs will go the "bathroom" which his bath-house will be in, a bell is going to go in the doorway, bedrooms upstairs, couch will be a rope perch in the living room and I'm still pondering what to make in the kitchen... A lot of foraging opportunities mayhaps?

Ideas?
