Chamon:

How old was Datsun then. Baby has done a head moult but never got to looking that badly (no offense, they all look like hell through a moult).

I ask because at 6 months she only did her head, when will she go full swing and look all beat up? And, how long does it take for the process to take place?

I CANNOT believe Datsun ever looked like that.

Bless her beautiful little heart. I hope she didnt take it too badly. She and Baby think they are the cutest babies here, wouldnt want to affect their self-esteem. I try to rationalize with Baby and tell her many mutations are much prettier than just a plain ol green IRN but she shoots me the tail feather and throws her boa around her neck as if she doesnt hear me.

I dont know everything but I would like to know how the hell a bird would pluck his head feathers, sure you dont have an owl Scarlet? Good vodka? C'mon... whats your story cuz I know you got one.

once upon a time there was this bird and and a dog, they had his horrible owner who paniced when every they sheded their ahirs/feather. no but seriosul his body looks mostly normal there are days where one or two feathers are out of place but it usually goes away fairly quick but hsi head looks raggedy. no i don't have an owl i never seen an owl with read beak have u. or for that matter a hook bill. speakign of vodka i don't drink that much but i know sky and greygoose goes down much much easier then lets say sminoff or popoff( cheap voda its liek 6 bucks for a gallon). hehe spoken like a true alkie. irn like wine.

When just Babys head was going through it she looked SO UGLY... uncared for, hated it.

I know she and I both are going to hate when she full moults like Datsun. But, from the looks of her, it sure is for the best. She looks so soft and fluffy now.

Whew, Datsun had it real bad. 0_0

Hane was fairly pretty during his little molt, lol. He didn't lose much. Datsun lost a lot all at the same time though.

   Poor Dats! It was mid January and it was just getting to be really summery.... about 2 weeks after we got her it started and it ended up just being a month but it seemed a LOT longer.

She was sooooo UGLY I freaked, took her back to where I got her and saw all the birds were the same  I asked mountains of questions but it turned out it was all to do with the late start of summer. The weather literally changed overnight and threw all the birds off their moult.

She is now losing tail, wing and some body feathers but its so gradual you only notic when you see them on the ground.... except she has to get her wings clipped often and her tail is still growing in.

My little girl just moulted around the head at 6 months (and a few tail feathers) but at the moment is losing the lot! Every morning I find a pile of feathers in her cage. She is covered in pin feathers at the moment so I know that everything is okay. My one concern is that 3 of her tail feathers grew back the first time skinny & white - vet doesn't know why. She broke off about 3 other big tail feathers and the remains of those quills have finally come out this moult - but as yet no sign of new ones. I know last time the new ones came through pretty quickly. Is is a slower process this time because it is such a major moult? She now has only 2 tail feathers left, poor thing!
