hi,

my parry is having problem since yesterday. Its 1 year old now and has been with us since past 9 months.
I have been feeding her with sun flower seeds, mix seeds, apple, carrots cucumber. But parry has seeds most of the time.
I have tried veggies with her, but its reluctant to have it. It just throws.

Yesterday I had offered her some carrots, green spinach and some apples also.
Earlier it used to have solid poops, but since yesterday its have watery and loose poops the tray being clearly wet.
I doubt it to be apple effect. But then she likes it. Also she happen to be dull since two days after i stopped with seeds
and kept veggies. She sleeps occasionally during daytime with head resting behind. I have seen that in budgies while sleeping
but not seen in parry.

Does it mean its not well? How do i make her shift to veggies?

regards,
prakash

The best way i know to get a ringy to eat something is for it to see you eating it first. Maybe try some fruit juice and see if she gets a taste for fruit that way. Could she be moulting for her to seem a little dull? I would still give her seeds and just give her small pieces of fruit occassionally till she gets used to it.

Keep persisting with the fruit/vegies. Eventually she will try and eat some. :)

You could try offering her small amount mashed fruit or vegies mixed with a little seed and offer first thing in the morning when she is hungry. As she eats the seed, she will get a taste of the mash. Just remember to remove the uneaten mix after a hour or so, (depending on weather temps) so not to spoil. :)

My babies will eat just about anything but the aviary birds that I have purchased have their likes and dislikes, just like us!

If your bird is eating mostly fruits and veggies, the poo will be more watery and depending on what they ate, the colour will be different. Fruits and veggies have a lot of water in them which seeds do not. Increased water in means increased water out!

A sudden change in her diet will be hard on her body. Try slowly reducing the amount of seed you give her over the span of a few weeks instead of taking it all away at once. Or perhaps feed fruits and veggies in the morning, and seed in the evening. Most birds like to eat first thing in the morning, and I know mine are more likely to try something new in the morning/early afternoon.
