Re: Billie2
I bought this plastic mat from Wilko's and cut it up into sections l wash it once or twice a week, Billie likes to poop in a different place everyday, she gets a round of applause for a big one in the morning and half a cheshnut, l get the other half but no applause. Besides pooping on the mat and sometimes she poops down the side of the cage and sometimes on her tray inside the cage. She throws her food away as far as she can well beyond the mat, l keep telling her she is a mucky little devil she beams with pride.
Mostly l play games on my tablet, also emails but surfing the net is best on my computer. Do you have Virgin? Then the router needs to be a modern one or the tablet wont connect.

Re: Billie2
Yes, I have virginmedia, the broadband is approx 2 to 3 years since installation, worked fine with the old laptop. If not, I will request a more up to date one or buy a dongle. The vinyl table cover is much better than the wilko plastic carpet protectors, in that, it doesn't harden when washed, and is so smooth and flat I often just run a mop over it, job done. It's not Sanjays do do, as much as bits of his fruit, and they stick like supa glue. A tablet will save a lot of palaver, I can order groceries etc on line, which doesn't work that well with my phone, and it will be easier to store, my little flat struggles with storage space, I've had to be quite inventive in places. Also, I couldn't afford a new laptop, and refuse to get into debt with HP.
Re: Billie2
Pomegranite is the worst, Billie merely squashes the juice out and throws the husk away that sticks to wall paper like nobodies business*, so l put it in the corner of the cage furthest away from my wall paper. She likes a tin bucket filled with sunflower seeds to make it a little harder for her l sprinkle the top with some wood chips so she has to forage for the seeds. I do not find the Wilko mats too hard to wash, under hot water they are very pliable.
If you phone Virgin they will send you a new router they call it a super hub, it is very easy to install, just take one step at a time. Mine was 8 or 9 years old and l could not connect my tablet to it but as soon as l switched it on the super hub l was connected. I gave up on Norton twice half way through the year it wanted me to uninstall it and the first time it refused to reload so l had buy a cheap version, and the second time l threw it into the trash bin, l now use Microsoft Essentials it works and it is free, l use another free security program for the tablet but cannot remember its name but if you would like details l can send them from my tablet/
I agree with you about storage room I have access to the loft but the HA had more insulation installed and now l only have a smallpsace l cleared, l; have a cupboard that is stuffed to the gills with my stuff, l have to take everything out to change over my clothes Summer/winter. *It is nobodies business to clear it up!

Re: Billie2
I have a suitcase to store my seasonal clothes in, Its just a straight swap, and it sits on top of my wardrobe. Thanks for tne tips, microsoft essentials sounds excellent, do virgin charge for the super hub?, Sanjay still doesnt want pomegranite, he used to like it. I dont think we had any daylight today, its been horrible!
Re: Billie2
I just cannot throw clothes away and l keep on buying new ones l have three or four suitcases plus one marked "Too big" It has been a reasonable day here went for a walk after lunch. Billie has been very endearing today she allowed me to gently scratch her neck and she responded quickly when l suggested a shower. Quite possibly becasue l had harsh words for when she pooped all down the side of the cage. But she did ask to be covered at 2 pm just after l got back from a walk, and after smashing up the furniture she settle down to sleep. I have had my dinner l and will go to bed early too, about 8 pm, but I do not intend on smashing up the furniture! l have my latest Noisiy neighbour complaint sheets ready for collection but got my knuckles rapped because l did not get an incident number from the police/ If l slept during the day l could have had 12 hours of peaceful sleep, it has been very quiet today perhaps the lull before the storm?
The Super Hub is entirely free even the phone call is free just dial 151 have you account and pass word to hand and Bob's your uncle!

Re: Billie2
Brilliant! I like free. It's been lovely today, such a change from yesterday. If I buy new clothes, I give old ones to the charity shop, that way I don't end up with too many, my real weakness is shoes and handbags. Like my mum, I like them to match. Sanjay got some new jingly balls today and I put them on top of his cage, he was so taken with them he divebombed me when I cleaned his cage, the thugee!
Re: Billie2
I am really upset Pets at Home is closing its branch at Perry Barr l relied on them for so much of Billies wants so l will have to buy mail order unless l make a trip down to the markets there is at least one stall that has pet needs.
Billie gets right out of the way when l clean her cage this morning she went for shower in my bathroom while l did the cage, l nearly forgot the poor thing. However she had a millet sray while l went shopping, and was very clingy when l came back so much so she was sitting on my shoulder as l went into the kitch, l have a walk in cupboard above the stairs and openend the foor to fetch something, Billie took fright flew from the kitch turned sharp right into the uppper hall and right again into the LR l was amazed she could negoiate the twisting course in one go, l rushed back into the the LR and she was sitting on her cage looking as pleased as punch!
I had the HA officers here this afternoon collecting the latest noisy neighbour doings and then they went into see her, unfortuantely l did not hear them going and sat down to play my organ. Years ago l had a letter from the HA about a noise complaint from a neighbour
I objected it was not noise but music. Might get another because the organ is still turned up to drown aout the doings from downstairs.

Well, here I am replying on my new tablet, and it is lovely. I didn't need a super hub, but I downloaded Microsoft's essentials.
Fun and games here, the guy in flat 1 was arrested by 4 pm burly CID guys today, cuffed and taken away, 2 stayed behind and took loads of stuff out of his flat, looks like he will spend the night in Greyfriars, Of course, a certain little person was rubber necking, (so was I). Stoopid boy!, why do they ask for trouble?.

Re: Billie2
How close is flat one to you, next door, behind you? I lived in an old Victorian house on the third floor but the flats were arranged oppisiite to each other the flat below had their bedroom under my living room and the flat behind hd her kitchen adjoining my bedroom, but she suffered from insomina and banged around i hter kitchen at 3 am so l complained to her about the nosie and she said "No one has complained before."
I use Lookout on my tablet it is free, but on my computer l use MSE, also free. Glad your Tablet is working well. My flat is on the first floor so we (Billie and I) can see down into the yard but to avoid flicking the curtains l have shaving mirrors positioned so l can sit and in my armchair and see all.
Emma had the roit act read an now is as quiet as a church mouse, l wonder how long it will last? Went to New Oscott and to Pets at Home there & stocked up.

Re: Billie2
The lad turned up late last night and I let him in, the police had brought him home, on bail, for receiving stolen goods, which he claims, he didn't know were stolen. My HA manager is popping out tomorrow just for a quick shufty and check all is well, so I've told my little minky to behave himself tomorrow.
Re: Billie2
Did he not have a key? Strangers who come to the front door salesmen and the like do they annoy you when they ring the bell?
It rained here all morning. The rain in Spain falls mainly in Birmingham. Billie wanted to go to bed at 1 pm but l made her wait until after the news and then persuaded her to stay up while l went for a walk, it turned out to be a nice sunny afternoon. All my friends know l have been on a diet and none gave me chocolates but even so my weight has been increasing must urn the thumb screws tighter!

Re: Billie2
Diets are a pain in the proverbial, you have to eat like a miser for the rest of your life. The police didn't even give him the chance to put a jacket and shoes on, let alone grab his keys!. Honestly, four great big oafs just for "receiving". HA manager turned up late, Sanjay retreated to the farthest perch and looked at her with his head on one side, she was only here minutes, tbh, I thought it was pretty pointless, but there you are. It was very chilly and blustery today, I was glad I didn't have to go out. My weight stays the same, it's not ideal, but I cannot exercise much due to pain and stiffness. The GP can like it or lump it, I am past caring!,
Re: Billie2
You cannot go yet l would miss you, the insurance on my TV is up for renewal £129 so l rushed out today and bought a new one. A Bush 32" Combi cost £190 and some insurance good for 4 years l do not think much of Bush but at least they are cheap, l shall give my old 6 year old 32" to Emma as she has been behaving herself recently.
Which? says that Microsoft have not spent much money on MSE and recommend Avast
Free but that does not have a firewall, l shall keep MSE it seems to do a good job. Billie did not want a shower today she sang beautifully to tell me it was lunch time we had rye crisp bread and cheese.

Re: Billie2
I would miss you too, Peter, I bought a finlux tv a few months ago, DVD combi, just 22", but it fits nicely into my TV cabinet, I bought it online, direct from finlux, and it arrived next day. My dad bought his first TV when I was about 7 yrs old, but it packed up after a few months, after that he always rented, you don't see tv's for rent nowadays. Sanjay has been angelic today, he sang nicely too!.
Re: Billie2
Got a hug and a kiss today, l gave my 6 year old 32" Tv to Emma, she was ever so pleased as she has not got a Tv, she also apologised for the noise at Chirstmas and told me that the police had told her that if she conitinued to disturb the peace she would get an ASBO.
Billie nearly got an ASBO I was trying to talk to a Virgin Technician about my new Tv's volume control and Billie wanted to get her word in as well! I made her wait to be covered while l went for a walk but when I got back she was not slow in asking to be covered. The Virgin Techie gave me about 30 numbers to try and lo and behold I was down to the last five when one worked.
My only regret with the new Tv is that l have to fiddle round in the back to get the headphone plug into its socket but now l can adjuust the volume in the headphones form the remote.
Billie had the best shower she has ever had today, she usually stands to one side of the water stream but today she was right under it and got thoroughly wet.

Re: Billie2
Bless!. I was woken again by uniform police this time, looking for Craig, but I haven't seen him since, I think he's breached bail and done a runner. I never use headphones, but if I did, I wouldn't know where things are. It's tipping down and the river Ouse was already high, fortunately we don't live near it, and are atop a hill. Sanjay had a shower yesterday, the droplets roll like water off a ducks back, he has so much oil in his feathers.
Re: Billie2
Quite a lot soaks through. Billie had a short shower today as l was pressed for time, slept well with no niose form down stairs. Billie is better behaved too, during the disturbances she was very short tempered but now is very docile. I wanted to give her a hug this morning but at first she resisted but then let me put my hands around her but after a short while she shrugged my hands off. We (Billie and I) have come to the conclusion that boiling cheshnuts is best, we shared lunch together Soup and crisp bread 200 calories but went mad for dinner with Shepherds pie 500 calories!

Re: Billie2
Nothing wrong with 700 cals, leaves enough cals for cuppas. Woohoo!, Sanjay flew over and landed on my knee this afternoon!, but only for a second he wussed when he realised the enormity of what he'd done, but it was a breakthrough, so I am quite chuffed. Yes, I always boil chestnuts, sweeter, moister, and Sanjay can bite through the skins easily. Maybe Emma was engrossed in the TV you gave her, and that's why it was quiet. Craig still not here, they've either picked him up and remanded him, or he's done a runner, not that it affects us, only when plod knocks on my windows because they think my flat is no 1. Time was, when you had to be intelligent to get into the force.
Re: Billie2
Plod insists on smashing the door down despite our landlord holding spare keys, they love breaking and entering you only have to watch the cop films to see how many rush in! Good old Sanjay he is getting more corageous but it could be a bone of contention once he starts landing on places he could become a nuisance, sometime when l am already to go out Billie lands on my shouilder and she is the very devil to get off, the last time l used the big stick to lever her off my shoulder she bit my ear lobe! In the morning l turn on the lights one a time to simulate dawn and the sun rising. Billie likes to fly to my shoulder first thing l am fearful she will poop on me, her way of giving me somethimg back. So l get her off as quickly as possible. In the pet shop we had a Macaw who would stamp his feet while on my shoulder to let me know he was going to poop, very considerate, I told Billie "No thanks l do not want to look like Long John Silver! It is so cold l am wearing long johns under my trousers. I peel the cheshnuts maybe l should offer them with skins on. Pity about Ziggy Stardust.

Re: Billie2
If you leave the skins on, they have to forage. I would put an old towel on my shoulder, fortunately he is indoors before I get ready to go out. Yes, Bowie was very young, just two years older than my late husband, but I remember seeing a clip of him, and he was blatantly a heroin addict, maybe that contributed, they are very schtumm about where the cancer was. People who chase the dragon tend to get it in the lungs. We had an early night last night, I am always exhausted and in a lot of pain when I have been shopping. I come home and have other things to do as well. It's a lovely morning, it could be spring. Oh yes, we had police raids, and very excited police dogs when dealers lived here, our HA doesn't have spare keys, the plod turned up in the wee hours, made a lot of curtains twitch!, it's supposed to be the element of surprise, but they make so much racket the dealers get plenty of warning.
Re: Billie2
We had dealers here for awhile needles every where, there were a couple of women working as prostitutes mainstreaming and the man up stairs befriended one of the women and persuaded her to go for treatment, and she gave up the flat, her flat mate had to ge else where. They would often go out on the job and leave the doors wide open all that was inside were two beds, no other furniture or food nothing you could call a home.
The HA refused to do anything even when we signed a petition, the people l cannot stand are the older generation who get offered a flat and then pass it onto their children or grand childen and instead of having older people living here in harmony with the rest of us we get mad parties and noise, Hell.
Billie makes me laugh sometimes she looks out of the window and if l stand in front of her she will lean to see round me and also crane her neck to get a better view. The same thing happens when she is watching the Tv if l block her view she even tuts at me!

Re: Billie2
My HA is very strict about these things, but some don't care, all they are interested in is the money coming in. I bought Sanjay a cuttlebone Last Monday, and he still has quite a bit left, normally it is gobbled up the same day he gets it. Anyway, it is lovely and quiet here now, I think complaining to your local council, ASB team gets better results, they can actually force the HA to evict troublemakers.
Re: Billie2
Birmingham council do not employ enforcers for ASB they just monitor your compliant but the local beat officers can consficate sound equipment and speak to offenders Emma said she would get an Asbo if she continued with her noise. Since last week she has been very quiet. I gave Billie new cuttlefish bone but she just ignorred it, likes wise with the Wilko parrot sticks. She likes digging into a bucket with sunflower seeds covered with twigs and enjoys the segment of oranges l put on her cage. I tried her with an unshelled Cheshnut but she just threw it away/ I wanted to move her winter sleeve so she could feel more comfortable in it but no way, so l waited until she was in the bathroom enjoying a shower and when she got back job done. I feel better that she has somewhere warm to retreat to when it gets really cold, but she is contrary miss she would rather freeze than make use of it. "HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU DO NOT POOP ON THE CAGE!" Fell on deaf ears.

Re: Billie2
Cloth ears, more like. Sanjay listens if I say No, he stops, counts to ten, then starts again!. Oi! has the same effect. Billie hasn't twigged she can shell her own chestnuts, I leave the skin on most things except citrus fruits, I always have, so Sanjay has grown up having to forage. They learn very quickly. Colder weather forecast, so I will leave the CH on a low setting at night, then if the temperature drops below 65c, it will switch the heating on. I have house plants which need it too. It's still sunny here, but quite a bit chillier.
Re: Billie2
WOW! l took the covers off this morning a draft of warm air hit me, it was 55 degrees in the LR but l bet it was a lot warmer in Billie's cage! The gas fire soon raised the temp. Last year l left the gas fire on low so she would not freeze the poor dear must have thought it was spring and started to lay eggs. She is very friendly at the moment but no sign of looking for a nest and not interested in cuttlefish bone either. However she did have a good look inside the fleece lined sleeve l put lower down for her she was chiiping away quite excited by it, but refused to go in, if it gets really cold she might change her mind.
It was cold outside when l went for my walk round the park but l was wrapped up warm.

Re: Billie2
When I was in town on Monday, the poor little pigeons were damp and fluffed up with cold, so I bought a cheap bag of wild bird food and emptied it discreetly, as I didn't want to be fined for littering, they were ever so grateful. It wasn't particularly toasty in my LR this morning, but it wasn't cold either, Sanjay still has his cuttle bone, I think the novelty has worn off!.
Re: Billie2
This morning l crept in early and turned on the gas fire while l went for a shower, when eventually I went in it was quiet warm, l turn the lights on one by one to simulate sunrise, she did a lovely poop off the cage and got a round of applause and a cheshnut. She mimics the phone which is a good thing because l cannot hear it. But talking is beyind her.
Her bucket of sunflower seeds is nearly empty and she was banging it around trying to get the last seed out but as soon as l went near it to refill she stood growling ready to defend it to the last. I usually wait until she is in the shower.

Re: Billie2
When Sanjay talks, it is very quietly, so it is easy to miss, maybe Billie has a quiet little voice. Sometimes he responds with an open beak and little sound, like when I ask him if he's ok. There was a bit of frost this morning, but it soon disappeared in the sunshine, it's much warmer tonight, too. When I nuzzle Sanjay, he is lovely and warm, even his beak and toes are toasty, I used to wonder if birds had cold toes.
Re: Billie2
Parrots is out but l have not had a chance to read mine yet. Dogs have wet noese do parrots have cold beaks as a sign of good health. Billie had a torrid time last night l hung up a fur lined sleeve for her to crawl into when it is cold but last night she chewed a hole in it and got her head caught and in trying to get onto a perch she got her foor trapped. I tried to free her but had to resort to gardening gloves to grab her and put her on top of the cage while l cut the offending item free. She did not get much sleep last night and was cat napping all morning. She was off her food too so l let her go to bed early today and hope she will be in a better frame of mind tomorrow. The last two weeks it has been blessedly quiet down stairs the up shot has been a lot colder in my place being up stairs l get the advantage of her heating, my room temp is up by one or two degrees.

Re: Billie2
Poor Billie, what a horrible experience, she must have suffered from shock, birds can literally die from shock, an old neighbour kept budgies in an aviary, I saw him grab one, one day, and it died immediately. Sanjay got his head stuck once, trying to squeeze through a gap in his nursery cage, Well, he screamed blue murder!, I went and got a leather glove, but when he saw it he soon wriggled free!.
Re: Billie2
Typical, Sanjay panicked as did Billie because when l lifted her out of the cage the fur sleeve came away immediately but it was all wrapped around the perch and l had to use scissors to free it. She was almost back to her old self today, ate a hearty breakfast had a shower and while she was under the water l cleaned out the bucket and refilled it with sunflower seeds , l sprinkle hamster cage bits over the top so she has to forage for the seeds but it should last a week. She did want to go to bed early again but l made her wait until 2 pm. She does not go straight to sleep but bangs around in the bottom of her cage for an hour or two chewing the willow stick she gets one a day, and she also likes chewing brazil nuts (unshelled) Also when l go out (Church and Shopping) l give her a millet spray. She loves sharing my lunch today it was chicken and mushroom soup she gets a peice of cracker dipped in the mushroom soup and if she is lucky some soup with chicken and mushroom bits on a spoon. We finish with a smell piece of sweet cracker,

Re: Billie2
I didn't think they could have mushies, maybe they are ok cooked, like potatoes, Sanjay likes a chip. I asked him if he wanted to go to bed a bit earlier, because I have to shop tomorrow, and he was ever so obliging, hopped straight on to his sleeping perch. I have tried Sanjay with shelled Brazils, but he isn't keen
Re: Billie2
I manage to persuade Billie to hold out until 2 pm and then l craftily went for a walk but about 2.40 l got back and within five minutes she was covered up. So l watched Tv with headphones but she was banging around under the covers and about 4 30 she called out so l uncovered her but it was obvious she wanted total quiet and so l had to have my dinner early and sit in a cold bedroom. The things we do for our companions! It is going to be cold tonight so l put on an extra blankets for her. Earlier she had a jolly good shower and got very wet when l thought she had enough l turmned off the water and after much persuading she consented to leave the bathroom. However l sat down to play my organ and she got into the water bowl and was skinny dipping as if to say she had not had enough

Re: Billie2
Is there no heating in your bedroom?, you could do with a little fan heater or halogen heater, just to keep the chill off, daddi loved an electric blanket in the winter. Anyway, I called in the newsagents, but my parrot magazine isn't in yet. Sanjay is becoming really affectionate now, he isn't objecting to my hands so much, but stepping up is still a long way in the future, I can wait. I bought him a Quince to try, but it was black inside, hey ho!.
Re: Billie2
I have a halogen heater under the desk, also a wall gas fire which is too hot but l like a cold bed room to sleep in so do not use the halogen heater too much l am sitting here with fingerless gloves a duvet over my knees listening to ClassicFM, Billie is in the LR the gas fire is on plilot, last night it was supposed to be very cold, but in here it was 55 and in the LR 60. Billie was holding onto the side of the cage as the cover came off and l foolishly stroked her beak and got a bite for my pains.
I bought Billie a large vegeatable cardboard tube as l was getting it ready to put in the cage she was bossing around on the door but as the tube passed in front of her she leant backwards it was so comical! I also bought from ASDA some dried dandelion weed as l read somewhere it is good for her. In Parrots they say that Horse Cheshnuts (Conkers) are all right to give to Sanjay and Billie, a bit late now.
I have an electric blanket but it is too hot even on the lowest setting but it heats up very quickly. When l lived at home my parents had a quince tree in the garden they are all right in apple pies but raw? Yuk.

Re: Billie2
Birds taste things differently so quince would be ok, I personally would not risk giving horse chestnut. Chestnuts are safe, and cheap enough to buy. We oldies are supposed to have an ambient temperature of 65c, in our homes. A cooler bedroom is ok, but not too cool.
Re: Billie2
Well I am different, my LR hovers around 77, Billie and l like it warm. But with two duvets 3.5 and 10.5 tog plus l tuck one over my feet and under the matress. I sleep like a bug.
I went for an extended walk to colect some fir cones and was shattered. Billie was quite upset it was well past her bed time when l got back at 4.30. Billie took t0 the cylinder like a duck and she has already chipped it. She got quiet upset when l took it out to clean the cage.

Re: Billie2
I'm not sure what you mean, but if it is like the seed covered cardboard cylinder I stupidly bought from wilko, do take care, cardboard can cause impaction, I quickly removed Sanjays when I noticed him nibbling the cylinder and not the seeds. We have a new neighbour in flat 3, an old boy called Ian, he looks like a rather scruffy Santa.
Re: Billie2
The cylinder is from Asda and is made of vegeatables it is for small animals and Billie has been chewing bits off, of a night time she chews a willow stick l worry about splinters, she also chews the various nuts, she has demolished one set of plastic triangles and is now half way through her second set, She chewed her way through one of her perches, l think her widsom teeth are coming through. I put a fresh cabbage leaf in her cage daily sometimes she chews that. She chews the skin of the pomegranite, l was quite pleased to see she ate some carrot last night mostly that gets forgotten l change her chopped apple once a day she eats that as well. She left the cheshnut alone and l had to eat the skinned cheshnuts l put on her cage. Waste not want not! I hung up a bamboo ladder l want her to get used to it becasue when she starts laying again l want to turn the nesting box up on one end and she will need a ladder to get out. I'm already for the egg laying l bought some nylon dummy eggs she has eaten two sets (6 x 6) of the chalk eggs. She has demolished several wooden ladders.
Looks can be decieving, but l hope Santa is quiet.
But l will take out the cylinder if she chips any more off it.

Re: Billie2
Oops! Guess who allowed Sanjays chestnuts to boil dry today?, so they were boiled And roasted! And, funnily enough he seems to prefer them, strange bird. He's eaten the flower sprouts I bought from lidl, though he normally prefers foods with seeds or legumes. It was very much an "ooh I say!" Sort of day, with Santa's relatives car coming and going with bits of furniture. I won't hear him if he Is noisy, he isn't above me, thankfully, I never hear internal noise from flats 1 & 3. Of course, he may turn out to be an alcoholic, Don't worry, I don't trust anyone at face value. He makes going up and downstairs hard work, he is quite obese, I'm surprised they didn't offer him a downstairs flat, I specified one because of my disability.
Re: Billie2
Sometimes the HA will get it right we have 10 2 persons flats with 7 single people and 10 one person flats with 9 single people l count Emma as two people becasue she always seems to have a boy friend with her. I wrote to Imran in October last to tell him l was not getting notificcations of replies and today he answered! Billie is off Cheshnuts l have to eat the ones she ignores although l refuse to pick them off the floor of the cage. When Billie first started to lay eggs both Skye and MissK recomended that l use a small card box with a hole cut for the entrance and a flap so l could see into the box, l reported back to them that Billie was chewing the box and one said that Billie was making it seem like home! But I take your point about compacted cardboard, however she has a roll of paper hanging up l kid visitors that is is Billie's toilet paper! I think some visitors actually believe me. Billie has been chewing the cylinder. But she has ignorred the willow sticks.

Re: Billie2
Willow sticks are safe, I used to give them to Sanjay when he was in his nursery cage, to chew. All these flats are suitable for two, but only mine and flat 4 are officially two person flats, they put singletons in flats 1 and 3. Santa is letting his relatives do all the carrying and lugging, he just watches!, I hope he offers them petrol money at the very least, I wouldn't want to lug furniture up the stairs!, unless it was mine. My corner shop (a small Budgens) had reduced blackberries today, nice and ripe, Sanjay couldn't get to them quickly enough!, he's always loved them, even as a baby.
Re: Billie2
Billie does not like black fruit, l had to peel the black grapes before she would eat them. I very nearly boiled the cheshnuts dry this morning, l think it was McGinty's ghost but it reminded me of a time when l got out from under my mother's thumb when l left home aged 40, and had my first Christmas on my own, l cooked a turkey roll with all the trimmings, roast potatoes, sprouts with cheshnuts, stuffing the works l was quite full after eating that but l decided to go ahead with some Christmas pudding. It would take 40 minutes to cook
just time for a nap. On the tin it said "Do not peirce, Do not allow to boil dry!" I awoke to an almighty bang and rushed into the kitch to find Christmas pudding all over the walls and ceiling, the sauce pan was red hot and burning a hole in my expensive vynil bake house floor the tin now flattened was bunring another hole in my rug abd the hot plate was glowing red! I just laughed and laughed it was so funny, it took weeks to get all the Christmas pudding off the walls.

Re: Billie2
I have never liked traditional Christmas food, my husband didn't like shop bought, so every year, my daughter would make him a pudding and mincemeat, and I would make a cake, I remember a tin of rice pudding exploding when my mum opened it, it was obviously blown, the mess was very much like yours!. Anyway, Sanjay had his weekly shower today, he did his usual "rain dance" to let me know he wanted one, he has a new spray bottle and it is very efficient.yes, it's great cutting apron strings, my mum insisted on travelling as far as far as Preston with me, where I was meeting up with all the others, to travel down to Guildford, I was the only one accompanied by Mother, it was Extremely embarrassing!, but when the train pulled out, I gave a Huge sigh of relief!, she never knew how glad I was to see the back of her.
Re: Billie2
At long last Notifications are coming through check your junk folder l found a load there made them safe and hope they will come through to my inbox in future. The pet shop l worked in was owned by a man who bought a load of tinned dog food frim Germany they have very strict rules about pet food. The cans were past their use by date and some were swelling up, some even eploded before we could sell them. We sold a lot of chubbs if you knew how much sulhphur went into them your would never buy another they use sulphur to prolong the shelf life. This was about the time Kellogs had a jingle "It's ever so tasty!" I made the mistake of singing the words when a Carribean lady was looking over the chubbs, she though l meant she could eat them. We could not buy cans of Whiskas cheap enough and even the super market selling prices were more than our buying price. Some people said they prefered to buy Whiskas from us because it was fresher despite the label showing a competition whose entry date expired three years ago! I offer Billie a shower every day most days she refuses to step up on my shoulder so l assume she does not want a shower. I use an old carpet shampoo bottle spray well washed out by now it has a more powerful spray than the petshop bought spray.

Re: Billie2
Yes, chubbs, full of paunch, hence the smell. I weaned my puppies on Whiskas, it didn't scour them like Pedigree puppy. Sanjay really enjoyed orange and a lime today, using his lower mandible to squeeze the juice out. No sign of Santa and his helpers today, but I expect there will be more activity tomorrow, he's taking his time moving in!.
Re: Billie2
May be the elves are on strike and Santa had to make his own toys. I am beginning to think about a new computer, either an All in One with Windows 10 costing £800 + or a lap top Which best buys Asus chrombook Flip C100PA from John Lewis @ £245 or Acer C720 @ £199/
We did not get much sleep last night Emma had a caller at 1 am and there was a lot of shouting, smashing, and violence until the caller left at 2 am, the police informed but the HA do not seem to care. I covered Billie up early but she was making a dickens of row complaining that l had not gone to bed!

Re: Billie2
Serves you right!, she is very vocal tho' isn't she?. Got parrot mag today, on Q&A page it says it is Not advisable to give them Conkers. My garden is flowering like crazy, daffs, iris, carnation etc, I think winter was canceled. Bought Sanjay a little coconut, he hasn't had coconut for ages, and is rather partial to a piece. Your HA needs to be careful, they may find the Ombudsman on their case one of these days.
Re: Billie2
LATEST!
My Houing officer is recomending Emma down stairs gets notice.
Billie has become quite vocal which is good l was worried about her silence, now she and l have quite a loud discusion about bedtime, she stands on tip toe to make her point and l keep on saying "No, itsToo early!" Dawn was breaking this morning when l uncovered her , she thought it was too early and sulked on the bottom of the cage so I ignorred her and got one with the cleaning. She turned her nose up at a cheshnut so l ate it, in the Supermarket today I saw some Harley Jellies and bought some, l offered her a spoon full but she leant backwards just like a child trying to aviod some medicine, so I put a glass container on the top of her cage, she could not resist the temptation to try some when l was not looking but as soon as she saw me looking she pretended to be looking out of the window. She climbed down the outside of her cage today which is not a good sign, she does that when she is looking for a new nesting site. She laid last year and the year before in Janauary. You can thank your lucky stars you do not have a hen, I filled her bucket with sunflower seeds but she ignors the Wilko parrot bars which is a pity has l bought too many they are coming out of my ears,

Re: Billie2
Erm, don't be too sure about Sanjays gender, just because there are no eggs or hormonal displays, doesn't mean "he" is not a hen, five years old and no collar?. I am very pleased at your news, I hope she's evicted soon and you get a quieter neighbour. Santa and helpers were here today, he told me he's only got another couple of bits to move in, then said I will be seeing a lot more of him, Oh No!, I shall pretend to be out!.
