I was with Birmingam Cable before it became something else and then Virgin took it over, it is hard to believe that Richard Branson started by selling condoms! Did Virgin send you a Super Hub and if so did you connect wireless? I have to use an Ether cable because l have no woreless adapter, cheap computer from Curry's. The dummies book said if the router was more than 5 years old dump ii, l have a new one coming until then all l can do is try out the variious apps on the Nexus.

I am funny about Remembrance day, Let the dead look after the dead, everybody knows l hate funerals I keep saying that l won't even go to my own! Billie is very choosy she sifts through her seed bowl every time she goes to it in the hope of finding that choice nut.

I don't know if it's a super hub, all I know is it's broadband. I rarely use my laptop, my smartphone is more accessible!. I think the Cenotaph is the least they can do, it's not as though those guys volunteered, right?, as daddi used to say, if you volunteer dying is an occupational hazard, but when it comes to WW1 and WW2, in the words of Kipling, "if they ask you why we died, tell them because our fathers lied", and WW1 was sheer slaughter, those generals should have been hung for war crimes.Sanjay rootled through his seed bowl earlier looking for choice morsels!

I bought some Brazil nuts in shells, Billie tried to crack one open but dropped so l used some nut crackers and split the shell and gave it to her she carefully eased the nut out and was more intered in the shell than the nut she is not a nut person.

We had an interesting dialogue this afternoon she would go in the cage at bedtime so l shouted "Get in your Blxxxxy cage and she started to moan and told her image in the mirror all her woes and l joined in as well "Of dear what can the matter be?" Then she sat on my shoulder and gave me loads of kisses.

Aww bless!, Sanjay threatens to call Polly at "Parrotline". I doubt if he could manage Brazils, he isn't keen on shelled ones, and the cooked squash and carrot was deftly thrown overboard, I explained he is supposed to like it, and he turned his back huffily. I still get the kisses and tickles tho'.

I put shelled walnuts in her bowl and find them on the floor on the floor the next day! She hates peanuts too. I was not able to give her much attention today as the new hub (Router) arrived and as soon as l set it up it got the Nexus 7 online. Then l was fiddling while Rome burnt and locked myself out of my bank account with no permisiion, luckily l was able to get out of that one. I managed to send an email opps gmail to my friend in Florida. By which time Billie was very frustreated so l spent some tme with her.

Good old Sanjay his socks match.

And there was me thinking his little toes were pink, Sanjay took himself to bed half an hour early, I just happened to glance up and he was on his bedtime perch in sleep mode, so I quickly apologised, asked if it was indeed bedtime, and he made his "yes" noise, so I soon had his palace covered. It's these really cloudy dark afternoons and evenings which throw him out of kilter.

Billie is affected too, come 3 pm l went out for a walk around the park it was quite chilly
when l got back we had our usual hallo and after l had sat down for 20 minutes or so she announced it was time to be covered then it was 4 pm, And after the customary delay she wanted the other cover added, she was already on her sleeping perch. She will get up tomorow at about 7 am.

I seem to be an old hand at the Nexus 7 slthough there are still areas to be explored but not l am thinking of buying a Motorola smart phone, just to keep up!

Mines a Samsung Android, and I wouldn't be without it. Sanjay was very stroppy today!, I had to remove a mineral perch and a dish I put nuts in, for a good scrub, he went all Mr Hyde on me!, nipping at my hands, divebombing with crow noises!, not like him at all, but I gritted my teeth and got on with it, (fortiver in re), after everything was done he asked for tickles and kisses, so I was obviously forgiven. This is the first time in years he has turned nasty!.

Maybe Billie has been giving him lessons!

MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT MISS PARROTS THIS MONTH, there is a handsome photo of an Asian Ringneck on the cover, a nice article on the Ringneck parakeet, an article on sick birds
UV lighting, and SANJAY take notice "Parrot news bites" on page 6.

Billie has been very good today, it was a nice morning so l went for a walk which meant l could spend all afternoon with her, she was not in a hurry and kept putting off bedtime until 5 pm her time my time it was 4 pm! And then it was straight up to her sleeping perch and before you could say 3 blind mice down the bottom of a coal mine she was asleep!

She is eating like a horse and is looking fat, but when she demanded a shower in the bath room and got very wet she looked quite skinny, l must get round to weighing her soon. I hung up some millet but she is an artful lass she bit through the stalk and liberted it but was not very hungry and dropped it in the mire.

Sanjay has a plastic holder for millet foraging, I think it came from the big parrot place in Henlow, He was lovely and affable today, he just didn't see why I should remove His nut pot and His mineral perch. I didn't venture out today, fickle weather and cold wind. I will call at the newsagents on Monday, but magazines don't usually turn up until Wednesdays. I get annoyed by the panel of experts telling people IRN's are only suitable as aviary birds, and don't make good pets, One of our friends reared a fox cub, and walked it on a dog lead etc, yet she was told foxes do not make good pets, she had Rusty all his life and he was a lovely pet!.

Some people talk out of the back of their heads take no notice, l went out twice today, the day before yeasterday l did not close the freezer door propperly and in the morning the door was ajar. When is a door not a door? I quickly switched to maximum but it decided to defrost. And it blew warm air all over my rozen food all day! In the evenng it turned on the freezer but it took all day the next day to get back to it proper temp!
The first casualty were the frozen cheshuts, yuk l thew those away and dashed out to buy some more from Pak stores, they had loads but they were quite small. Then later l went out for a walk this time l took an umbrella, Emma asked me to do some shopping for her and when l got back I complained (again) about the noise at 3 am, shouting slamming doors yelling oiut of the window at 4.30 am. I told her l was going to keep a noise diary and report her to the housing association. She told me she lost her temper with one of her friends when they knocked over the TV ad it broke. Quite likely! Never a dull moment here.

Why have the TV on and guests at that time of the morning anyway? Daft bat. Oh dear, freezers make such a mess when they defrost, but fortunately for me, mine is a frost free one. Have you claimed for the wasted food on your house insurance? (contents). Mine covers all that sort of thing. The sublet tenants have gone, and moved the furniture out, which belonged to their "landlord", so housing must have got their court order. We are getting new communal carpets, and the service charge is being put up for three years to cover the cost. A bit cheeky. Sanjay has been angelic today, and had a little sing song,

Well no, my fridge/freezer is frost free too but it was my fault for leaving the freezer open door all night, but l have gingerly been tasting the contents and stew last night was fresh as a daisy and the shepherds pie tasted all right, if l get food poisoning it won't be the first time. It is working normally now.
After l told Emma l was reporting her to the HA about her noise last night l went to bed at 7.30pm and slept through to 6 am. Not a peep out of madame. Billie had so much sleep she did not want to go to bed and hung out the bed time until 5 pm!
Billie did not want me to go to chuirch today and sang beautifully but when l got back she was so engrossed with a wild life film she did not even notice my coming into the LR.
The reason Emma has the TV on with a room full of guests is to encourage them to talk to each other some people cannot talk unless there is a background of noise and they all like shoutung each other down, it is bad enough during the day but 3 am ...too much. But that is neighbours for you.
All our propeerties are let unfurnished but when l frirst came to live in Birmingham the prpoperty was let furnished the tenants would sell everything if it was not bolted down, our HA has mostly Alky's junkies, and nutters and l have been with this HA for 24 years so it cannot be too bad!

The house next door, same HA, is full of "vulnerable" tenants, one recently moved out, and the workmen were wearing bio hazard suits, there have been several of them working on that flat for almost a month, they even had to re plaster the walls, (damp caused by drying clothes on radiators). We had an early night, I was exhausted, and Sanjay was exhausted from watching me potter about.Winter Fuel payment paid in today, ta very muchly!, it certainly gives things a boost.

Yes indeed! I am thinking of splashing it on a laptop and l took the £1 trial from Which? to find out which one to buy and l am still undecided. But l am coping with the Nexus Tablet doing my banking and emails. Billie and l had another good nights sleep and this morning l spoke to our housing officer about Emma and now the ball is rolling, another one of my neighbours who has serious mental problems got a warning of evicition about her verbal attacks on her downstairs neighbour the two of them do not talk to each other. They still have not let the flat thaty Bill died in and his body lay undiscovered for 3 - 4 months in the summer! Phew! There is another flat empty next door to me.

Poor guy, have you ever heard about Joyce Vincent? A young woman who died in her flat and lay undiscovered for several years, her TV was still switched on, of course, nobody could tell How she died. Today I bought persimmons, and himself had a very interested nibble, even though there are no seeds. Yes, people with untreated mental health issues are hel to live with, my mother and daughter both Schizophrenic, so I have personal experience, my daughter is on brilliant meds, you wouldn't guess she had anything wrong with her. My mother on the other hand, didn't receive any follow up after hospital, and in those days Social Services didn't exist, so she made my childhood hel on earth.

My reclining swivel chair in the LR is on its last feet maybe l will get a new one.

I've never heard of gooba peas, but hurrah! There were guava and himself even forsook first nibble on his peppers for a guava. I spent my winter fuel allowance on Yule gifts, my daughter is a single mum, so I help out with more than just one gift per child. A friend spent hers on a new duvet and pillow set, I don't think any of us spend it on fuel!.

Do dahlias suffer from frost bite?

The upshot of last weeks yelling out of the window at 4.30 am was that the housing offcer called on Emma yesterday and Emma she told me was going to move next May, l almost said pigs will fly first! But later that evening she switched on a neighbour's Disco unit with four bass speakers in a stack with some sort of drum seauence. It was murder at 9.30 l asked her to turn it down she said she would at 11 pm but it was 1 am before it went off. she has the same friends round as last week so l shall have to wait and see but the Disco equipemnt went back!

How are your neighbours?

Billie had a shower inthe bath room this morning but after our lunc and she loves Ryevita she wanted to be covered up at 2 pm don't blme her! I went for a walk and got lost it was an houir before l got back and she was fast asleep, so l sat down to watch Tv with head phones but she heard me and called to come but l couldnot make up her miond if she wanted out or in. Eventually she settled for in.

Dahlias are not Hardy, and should be lifted and stored over winter, I don't have room, so I stuff terracotta pots with barley straw and cover the Dahlias.According to the forecast, I still have time, we are not due Arctic conditions just yet. Sanjay sat atop his door, nibbling at the back of my cardi today when I cleaned the cage, he is very gentle. I don't go out for walks, it hurts too much. When I go shopping I have to stuff myself with painkillers.

Last year l bought a Cozy hut for her to sit in on cold nights she bit through the supports but she did use it as it was quite low down but this year l hung it higher l hope she will use it to stay watm because l have left the gas fire on pilot only, l think last year l made th mistake of turning up the flame which led her to think it was spring and lay eggs.

She makes me laugh by picking up a tangerine segment tilting her head and gulping down the juice she likes one after noshing. It was about 12 December she started to lay eggs well this year l have those 6 nylon eggs, l'm itching to use. Also l was reading that Alex hens like the nesting box on end so it is deep inside.

Is not your landlord responsible for the boiler? I took my tablet down to the church today and showed it off, but when l got back it had disconnescted from my Hub and l could not get it to reconnect I had a long chat with Virgin and thay showed me how to use the second pass word and Hey Presto it is connected again/ But now l am fearful of going out again l do not want the same thing happening again.

I hung the Cozy Hut up in Billie's cage but decided to move it lower down but Billie gave me a nasty bite when l put my hand in to re-hang the cozy hut, but this afternoon she was in a better frame of mind and allowed to re-hang it where it was!

What a superb double page spread about IRN's in Parrot mag!, such a wonderful change to hear Good, positive opinions. Sanjay was waiting for a hello, a tickle and a treat when I got home, I had started unpacking when my daughter phoned, Sanjay wanted more attention and started shouting "wot"! Over and over, when I told him to be quiet, he stopped but Then started ringing his tubular bell for service!. Later on, just as I was preparing to tackle his daily housework, the phone rang, so of course, the same thing happened, one very frustrated little body making as much noise as possible, to remind me His needs took precedence over phone calls!. Yes, the boiler is the HA's, but their "48 hr emergency call out" is a lie, because the guys go home at 8pm.

No 24 hours emegency phone number? We have one it is shared by other HA's. You will have to make another complaint to Wilco their parrot sticks break up too easily Billie went through one in a day. She rings her Tubular bell too when l am not taking much notice of her, and when Lunch is due, also she bangs around when l play the organ l think she is percusion accompaniement my spelling is atrocious. I am a bit miffed Virgin have a special deal for 130 Tv channels unlimited week end calls free 1870 numbers a Tivio box Broad band at 130 mps (I think mps is stands for Mops per second) a free hub on a 18 month contract for £38.99 l pay £57 for much hte same except my set top box is the older one.

I have Tivo, home phone and broad band, I also pay just 51p a month for talk anytime, previously I paid five quids a month for 08457 numbers (bank, water company), when they changed to 03457 recently Virgin charged me full wack, so I phoned them and explained the change, a very nice Scottish lady canceled the fiver a month and put me on the 51p one instead. Yes, we have a gas emergency number for their "48 hr emergency", but it is hardly an "emergency" if they make it their last job of the day and knock off at 8pm, is it?.

Too true, l only use the telephone seldom, my average bill is £5 a month with out line rental. I signed up for a Tivio box and keeping my broadband will cost £46 a month but my friend in Florida says the telephone companies are losing hand over fist to the internet calls and are slashing prices top keep their customers.

Went shopping today and when l got back l walked up the drive and l could see her on top of the cage watching for my return, sweet! I gave her a millet to chew on when l was out but she dropped it and did not fly down to pick it up, l can trust her not go exploring and chew on cables, except in the breeding season.

And with this in mind l have refrained from giving her sweet, starchy, foods because l do not want any eggs for Christmas, the year before last she laid on the 18th December and continued until January 14th, last year she started on January 6th and continued into Feb.
You can thank your lucky stars that Sanjay is a male!

I really don't think "he" is, five years old and no collar, and "his" display is effeminate. Anyway, I received Northern Parrots catalogue today, I think the concept of xmas decorations for pet birds is pretty daft, they are not feathered people!. It won't be a courier, it will be a Virginmedia guy, he will instal and set it up for you, also make sure the box is working ok. Our first Tivo box packed up after a week, but they replaced it pdq. There are a couple of bits I want to buy Sanjay from NP, but the sensor has packed up in my security light, (daddi bought and installed it), so I must attend to that first. I will but a replacement and pay a sparky to wire it up.

I was so incensed l wrote a ltter to my HA and took it down to their office and on the way back bumped into our housing officer Lylette, a very nice lady.

Sanjay the rebel, Billie ate a Wilko parrot stick in one day so l told her she wont have another for a week. She looked shell shocked this morning. Now l will just have to wait on the HA. I have decided that the Disco drumming is preferable to their shouting. People are so inconsiderate these days.

Tell me about it!, and the queue jumping!, my little grandson is so polite and considerate he gets gold stars for it at school, but it makes him a target for thugs.
Sanjay can polish off a seedy bar pdq, it depends on what mood he is in, sometimes they last a few days. Oh, guess what? That outside light started working on it's own again last night!.

Did it wake you up? Our security lights are on 24 hours a day, and next door it started buzzing l could hear it in my kitchen. I have called the Birmingham anti social number
303 1111 and they tell me they are only a call centre, l have called the West Midlands police and they refer me to the Birmigham Anti social line however l had a message on my answer phone from the police saying he had made enquires and discovered from one of my neighbours that the complaint is real. Progress!

Billie had a good night's sleep and was in an affable mood, its shopping tomorrow l think l will give her a Wilko seed bar to chew on while l am away.

Our security light is at the front, outside a side bay window, but the HA ones at the back are a pain, I have a blackout blind and blackout curtains, anyway, many Weeks ago it packed up, and none of us here or next door have reported it, because all bedrooms are at the back of the houses. I was an hour late getting home from shopping today, so abject apologies to himself and a cuttle bone peace offering.

I offer Billie cuttlefish bone pieces but she is not interested, she has been ignorring her toys on the floor which is good, l cannot remember what happened this time lst year but l remember the year before she was actively looking for a nest site and started to lay eggs about 19th, last year l think it was early January she started to lay, l am hoping she will give it a miss this year. Things have quietened down below but do not want to count my chickens before they hatch. Onn my walks around the park l upset the geese by asking them "Which one of your is the Christmas goose?"

That was horrible! Poor geese. Sanjay has taken quite a liking to those little clementines, like Billie, he sucks the juice down. He managed to demolish a sunflower seedy bar yesterday, but none wasted, unlike those square ones wilko used to sell. We had a very pretty day here, like spring, and it was quite mild.

They forcast rain at 3 pm so l got my walk in early, Billie was waiting for me to come back she wanted to go to bed soon after. The phone rang and poor Billie got very upset, l had to keep on saying "Its all right Billie" before she settled back down again. All quiet on the Western front, but for how long?

You could leave it off the hook, and the caller would have to leave a message. Not a lot upsets Sanjay, strangers who invade his personal space mainly upset him. There's no need to peer at him like a specimen in a bell jar, he is big enough to see from across the room. One of the Croatian guys upstairs keeps jamming the hall light switch in, which means the light above the main door stays on, and shines into bedrooms, I keep nipping upstairs with a screwdriver and prising the button to the off position, I have spoken to them about it, but being a native, and female, I am ignored, sigh.
