6 week old IRN eating too much?

Post by _InCoGnIt_ »

Good afternoon everyone.

I have 2 IRN, one male with 14 months old non tamed and now i´m hand feeding a 6 week old baby. (waiting for DNA results)
I give the baby formula 3 times a day (as the breeder told me to. 8AM,4PM,12AM, 25cc) but the breeder told me to put some seeds and fruit in the box for the baby to start eating some solid food. Well, the baby eats everything i put there :D , fruit, veggies, seeds and has is crop allways full and don´t stop eating even after the crop has been full (i really don´t know the maximum that they can put there :) )after the morning formula at 8AM for example
Now my doubt is, reduce the formula for just 2 times a day and let him/her eat and hope he stops when he feels full or should i put the bowl for a few minutes and take ir out again?
Because it´s a baby, does he know when to stop? I don´t want the baby to be sick because of something that i can avoid.

Thank´s and any help that any of you could give me will be welcome.

I´m sorry for my English...

Feed the formula first. Right after feeding offer the veggies, fruits and seeds. In about another week start mixing some soft chunks in with one of his feedings. Don't let him forage whenever, let the crop empty before feeding again. Formula first right now. :)
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way :D

Thank you Skyes_crew for your help.

When I got home from work he was eating seeds and fruit and then went to sleep. I was more rested because he eat until he was full then stopped because he felt full. My wife weighed it before and after eating at this time and there was a difference of 108g to 120g. Is it normal a variation so big of weight in a baby so small?
He´s crop looked (for me) like is gonna explode

Thank you for your help Skyes_crew.
I´ve read it before of my first post but it only refers something if he doesn´t eat by himself.
Well, i send some pictures with his crop full to a breeder and he told me that it was perfectly normal. He eats so well during the day that the breeder told me to try to feed the baby just 2 times a day (morning and evening) to see if he keeps eating fruit, veggies and sedds like he used to do.

First day of experience yesterday and he looks great eating and sleeping a lot :D

I put him in a cage during a few hours and he likes to be in a small perch in the bottom of the cage and allready tryed to climb the cage to :) Very easy to go up... but then... "HELP, i can´t come down." :D :D :D :D
