Saved a ringneck

Post by Rickypawsey »

Hi I've just saved a ring neck from a devastating home he (he for now not DNA ) was in a budgie cage with two other birds all dirty and just not nice. We have got him home and he is sitting quite in his cage (new one on the way ). The man was feeding him budgie mix with a lot of sunflower seeds, what is the best food to feed him. Also when is the best time to feed him when I get the new cage or ASAP. He is also not tame any tips on taming him and when to start. He is 5 months old apparently. Please respond ASAP

Many thanks

Hi. Good on you for taking in the bird!

Fed him now. He's hungry, isn't he?

Start your relationship with him now as well. Talk to him, offer goodies (sunflower seed a good start), and by all means let him watch you hanging around being boring and not scary. Let him have a good look while you are paying attention to something else.

It would be a super idea to put your bird and computer in the same room so you can read a lot of back threads on taming as he looks on.

Best wishes!

Many thanks. He is is my room and I've been in there all day watching rubbish on tv and snoozing and he's seamed fine. I'm glad because I saw him eat and drink so I'm a little less worried about him now.
