Randy IRN?

Post by Bronwyn »

Hi Ho! I have a query & was wondering if anybody could assist. We have Ringo, a blue IRN, we think is a male & still quite young. From the moment we got him, he has stepped up for both of us & been very affectionate. We get a bit of bite, but not much. When Michael puts his hand out to pat/scratch, Ringo goes into this weird stance. He throws his tail & head up....nearly into the Z shape. He closes his eyes & clucks & kisses madly...it's like he goes into some sort of trance. I have tried pat him just after & he doesn't do this for me. Could he be a she & is this a mating pose? Michael jokes that it's just his animal magnetism!!!!! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My female blue does this for her "daddy" more-so than she will for me. She usually puts her head in one of her "hands" and will bow her head down a little till daddy starts giving her scritches. She only will do it with me when daddy is no where around. The noises she makes are absolutely adorable!

If you check out the video forum where there's a video that Imran posted, his boy talks and talks and talks while he's getting scritches. They all make noises they learn I think, but it just takes a little while for them to let you pet them.

My little girl does this - but only to me and only when she's sooky. Apparently it's a female behaviour but according to my vet males do it in breeding season also. I have noticed though that she hasn't been doing it as often lately - at the end of last year she would strike the pose as soon as I walked in the room but now it's generally only if she hasn't seen me all day. Maybe something to do with breeding season coming to an end???

Its a female thing... I have both male and female and have NEVER had my male do it... and he's more than old enough.

;)

Enjoy it, that coo could melt a heart of ice!
