How do I....

Post by Mikaela »

Back-up!?

A box popped up the other day, before this (husband wiping out my hard drive) that asked me if I wanted to 'back up' when I was closing my photo program. Seemed like a good idea for me so I hit back-up.

So, does that mean they arent lost!? That they may be retrieved!?

I would be forever grateful for any suggestions as to how to go back and retrieve them... if at all possible.

when I back up my important stuff, I just burn to DVD or CD-R all the files I want to keep safe.

The back up that your program asked you to do, was saving to the harddrive and would have been wiped when your hubby did what he did.

The only way to try and recover your files would be to (as suggested by someone earlier) pay techies at your local computer store to try and search the HD for information that could possibly still be left behind after the re-load.

Cheers! Good luck

Thanks hun.

I was thinking as much.

Er. I'll be backing my stuff up from now on. Lesson learned the hard way.

And I thought this was a forum for birdie problems only. Lol

If he formatted your hard drive then I don’t think there is any chance of recovering any files if it was just a basic recovery then you could maybe find them.
