Hey there IRN forum!!

I'm Nicole, and I'm excited to get to meet and chat with other IRN parents  My husband and I currently have two small dogs, a long haired mini dachshund and an Italian greyhound. We also keep a flock of chickens, and we have ducklings on the way [and maybe a couple turkeys if I can convince the DH to grow our own thanksgiving meal this year]

We are currently awaiting our IRN, who my husband has already named Apollo. We found a reputable breeder in our area, and though my first inclination was to adopt, we are too far from any bird adoption agency, and they won't make any acceptations because we are out of their adoption range. So, rather than add fuel to the fire by buying our IRN from a pet store, we found a great breeder. I spoke to her on the phone for over a half an hour and I am comfortable and convinced that she is the right breeder for us. Our little one is due to hatch next month and while I am capable of hand feeding, I am waiting until he is weaned. He will be joining our family this May!

I grew up around parrots, my father bred exotics and we learned at an early age, what parrot ownership was all about; from changing newspapers and water dishes, cooking bird treat muffins to helping my father hand feed the babies until we were competent enough to be trusted to do the work ourselves. He sold hand fed babies, and my sister and I ensured that the babies that left us were loved and happy.

The only sad part was that we didn't ever really have "pet" parrots, they were all destined for someone else, so I am excited that in my adult life I am finally going to have a baby of my own, that I don't ever have to turn over to someone else :)

We settled on the IRN breed as I wanted a parrot with the ability to speak and learn tricks, but my husband has not ever been around parrots so I didn't want something too big, that he might be fearful to interact with. After much research, we settled here.

I'm excited to chat with everyone here and look forward to meeting everyone!

[Sorry for the ramble....lol]

I have no idea what color he is....he's just getting his pin feathers, he looks grey though.

Momma was blue, daddy was grey.

I guess time will tell!
Also, I'm in the states, east coast!
