That's a lovely story. Thanks for sharing. It's interesting how they learn different boundaries with different people.
I personally wouldn't like to have my bird sit on my head. If mine ever try to get up there I discourage it. Books that I have read describe this as a dominance behaviour. However, if your bird isn't showing any negative behaviours by being up there, and your wife is happy with him being there, it must work for her and your bird.
