I'm so excited to be here! I can't tell you how helpful this forum was when doing research on IRNs.
I was beginning to feel disheartened that I couldn't find the right breed for me, then I stumbled upon Ringnecks. That was six months ago and tomorrow I'm welcoming an 18 month old (probably female) Hillerman Pied into my home.
I was going to buy from a breeder in the spring, and I had my heart set on a male for their gorgeous plumage but when I found this little one on Craigslist I just had to help her out. Her family doesn't have time for her anymore, and sharing the home with a dog, two cats and another bird is too stressful for her. She already says "Whatcha doing?" "Peekaboo!" "CRACKER!" and a few other little phrases. She's bonded with the man of the house and loves to snuggle with him, but he can't give her the training and time she needs.
Who knows? Maybe I'll get a surprise after her 2nd or 3rd molt and find out she's a he after all.
In the meantime I can't wait to get to know her!
