i recently got 3 babies from a friend for hand rearing. Now that their colours have come through i believe the so called father is not the babies actual father (naughty hen).
so the hen is a pastel blue (unsure if she's split to anything) and the cock that fed the hen and helped raise these babies was a normal green (again unsure if split). no other male in the aviary seemed to show any interest what so ever in this hen. They are in a massive aviary about 7 ringnecks and 6 alexandrines. no other ringnecks had a successful clutch as their was only one other male in the aviary and he was albino. i know more than one cock can mate with a hen.....anyhow from the pastel blue hen and green cock we got 1 albino - first hatched, 1 blue hatched second, 1 pastel blue hatched third, and 1 fertile egg. this also was the first time breeding for this pair/aviary set up.
seems to me its impossible for a green cock and pastel blue hen to throw albino and straight blues and not throw any greens if not all greens.
Anyone have any explainations??
if the dad was in fact the albino does this mean the albino baby is female? and the blues are male?
thanks for any info
