Help Identifying the color of our babies

Post by JaGuR »

Hi guys, new to the forum and new to breeding.

Have just had a hatch of 5 baby IRN's that we are hand raising from a blue cock, and a grey hen.

Would like to know their colors before trying to sell them, which hopefully won't be to far away as they are not around 43 days old

Will try to upload a pic of one of our babies.

Sorry won't let me post a pic as "seems to spammy" :?

Cheers

Hi JaGuR,

You won't be able to post photos until you have been a member for 5 days and made about 10 (or 15 - can't quite remember) post's.....it's a security measure put in place to stop spammers posting inappropriate photos.

As for your chicks, I could be wrong, but you might get a mix of blue and grey, unless there is an unseen factor in one or both of your birds? I'm only just learning about genetics myself, and one of the breeders on this site, Lushen, has started a thread to teach the rest of us newbies a bit about the Genetic Calculator. Have a look at the thread and a read of the links he posted for us to have a look at - they're all really good articles that make learning about the genetics, different factors, etc quite clear and understandable.

Perhaps one of the experienced breeders will answer your question anyway, but if your planning on continuing breeding, these articles and this forum will certainly put you on the right track :D

Good luck!
Regards Deb
