Handraising 2 week old IRN's?

Post by katooshkit »

I was given two 2 week old chicks and a four week old chick by my boss. The mum ignored them so im taking up the role of mumma. I handraised a few cockatiels and lovebirds but never ringnecks.

Just wondering, why do the two week olds still squawk after i have fed them (four week old is quiet)? I am feeding till the crop is almost full because i dont want to drown them. They eat well. I have them in a warm box and they have a nest of blankets. At night im putting them under a lamp so they have some extra warmth.

Im feeding Avione handraising formula and adding probioitics. I feed them every four hours, even through the night, or when the crop is getting empty.
I would like to blend up some spinach, banana or apple and give some between feeds, would this be ok?
Is there a reason they are still squawking for about 20 mins after a feed?

I have only had them a day and i want to handraise them right so any help is appreciated. :D

It sounds like you are doing a great job. Yes you can definately try introducing other foods for them to try and as they get a bit older they will start to pick at it themselves.
