Hello,
I'm very new to this site and will be using it for much needed info and advice.
the story is that while after getting off of work I saw something green fly by and crash into a neighboring store's window, noting it had a bird shape I went to go see and what I find was a parrot! dazed and very confused! he let me pick him up after a short cautious following but he bit, albeit not hard, when i said let go he did and I took him into a shop to get a box with holes to take him to the local pet store for more info. I bought a cage and supplies and then put a found add on craigs list and in the area I found him. It's been a month went by and I've heard nothing, so my husband and I bonded with him and have decided to keep him, and with keeping him I know its a great responsibility to keep him socialized and ensure my 2yo son doesn't bother him too bad or think he is a toy.I suppose what I am asking here, is how well do these birds usually cope with younger children? he doesn't appear stressed, just watchful and cautious. I want to handle him by hand, but he refuses the 'up' command when i put my fingers under his belly and press up, he goes to all sorts of methods to be stubborn and avoid it, he doesn't bite hard but well, I want to know if it's too soon for me to handle him? or perhaps if there are other ways for me to try?
thanks so much!
