Bad Behaviour

Post by tonian2 »

:x My 3yo male is courting for the first time with our 5yo female. He has always been my big sooky baby. I expect breeding will interfere in our relationship but he has become very skittish and will attack me if i put my hands in the cage. He will come out and sit on my shoulder and give me a quick kiss but I cant move away from the cage or he flies back a quickly goes to check what the female is doing. He has also stopped talking except that every now and then I see him pop his head in the nesting box and he says ''come on'' to the female. Its quite cute. But I guess what I am wondering is will he become cuddly again once they have finished breeding? I was told that he may become wild

Yes we have had very little interaction in the last few days. I have resigned to the fact that I just need to let them be. I was just concerned that he wouldnt love any more  Thanks for confirming tho

I don't have any experience regarding this but I would be interested in finding out from several people's experience. My understanding is that my Charlie's father is quite tame (the female isn't) and they don't have this problem... but this could possibly be the exception rather than the rule.

Having said that, my guys haven't mated that I've seen this year but they did for the first time last year and even during that time they were still tame. At the moment Janey likes to spend a bit more tame being aloof than Charlie but I just take my lead from them.

Ellie.
