Is separate my two IRN a good idea?

Post by Topflex »

Hi again!

I'm trying to train my IRN so that i can handle them. I had them for about two weeks now. They are semi tamed (Meaning i can hand feed them and they seemed to be used to me as they don't fly away from me when i let the out of the cage). They're about 11 Months old. Would it be wise of me to separate them? As one is a meany and is influencing my good IRN I'm almost at good terms with.. today i notice that the bad one has cause my good bird to not play with me as she scolds him by biting him.

Any Tips? Also these two has been with each other since birth and I'm afraid to separate them due to their strong bond.

I also have a pair of IRN's and they are siblings. The younger one is the trouble maker while the older one is the quiet one. I was able to teach both of them to perch on my hand at the same time. Before I fed them, I took a seed, showed it to them. They would try to get it. Put the seed far enough, so it can reach your finger. Repeat this and within about 10-15minutes, they will be able to perch on your hand. I rotated. I did one bird, gave a treat,. Gave another treat when it got back on the perch, then repeat with the other bird. In about 20 minutes, they both wanted to get on my hand because they knew they would get a treat. And from that day on, they perch on my hand with no problem.

The younger one always influences the older one, but as I keep socializing with them, the younger one becomes more wel behaved.

Also, try petting them once they get confortable on your hand, they'll eventually get used to it. :)

Hope I helped somehow.
