Wierd Behavior

Post by Topflex »

Hi,

My IDNs are doing this weird gargling thing. Is this normal? or is there something wrong with my birds. (they make a popping noise)
Also I just notice that I've purchase the birds when they were about 11 months old is this too late to teach them how to talk?

Does anyone know an answer for this?

Cause I'm worried about my birds health. They Gargle and they look like their hurting, they close their eyes and goes into this trance for a few sec.
Please help.

Without seeing it, it's hard to know. It could just be the females mating position. Some people describe it as "clucking".
Does it resemble this:

?

My Janey does this behaviour but makes a slightly different noise. Her eyes will quite often close and she will pin her eyes. This is her signal to me that she wants me to pat her (which I do but only on the head).

Nah, its not clucking, I dunno how to describe it. I'll just have to get them checked out.
I've never seen this behavior before. its like their rinsing their mouth but they start to gargle and go into this trance like state.

I like to have my birds checked out by an avian vet yearly any way - so going to the vet isn't a bad idea.

Can you video tape the behaviour? There is a chance that your bird won't do it when it goes to the vet.
