i posted in a earlier thread my my bird doesn't make any sound except when he is infront of a mirror so i decided to put a small mirror in his cage , is that a good idea . btw its a month now and my bird still dont make any sounds
Re: is putting a small mirror a good idea??
It was well over a month before we heard a peep off Sullie - he just made little noises when he was ready too and we just left him be to talk in his own time - he probably makes noises at a mirror because he sees another bird and feels more comfortable at this stage trying to communicate with a bird who isn't as scary as a human to him.
Just give him time - spend as much time as you can with him and he'll soon get used to you and then start making noises - They are all different, so he'll speak in his own time

i put it in and the results were great , he started making sounds like crazy , it is really amazing what a cheap small mirror can do to a ring neck . btw i forgot to mention this in the original question but will my bird reflection in the mirror hurt my bonding with the bird?

I chose to get my bird another birdie friend rather than give it a mirror. I have seen some birds develop unhealthy attachments to mirrors but not all do... so you just need to keep an eye on it. Since I've never given mirrors to my birds I can't tell you how it might affect bonding. Sorry!
