Hi Peeps

Great site with loads of information for us Ring neck lovers.

We have adopted a ring neck not to sure how old the little fella is but he is one of the nicest birds ive ever come across.

we picked him up yesterday and i no it's early days but ive a;ready started to play a few games with him and also hand feed him - he loves peanuts in there shells, he was on his perch and he was doing a sort of dance but he wasnt sure about me as i was stickin a peanut through the cage - then after about a minute he took it from me. i really praised him and he seemed to really enjoy the praises.

just wondered on a couple of things.

he is a grey in colour and his tail feathers seem a bit uneven and fluttered - how can we improve these and make them better for me little boy.

also he does a sort of dance - goes across to the left and to the right pretty fast - i just wondered if this is normal i dont want me little man to be distressed in anyway.

ive been playing a game with him - sitting by the cage and speaking to him for about five minutes and then saying good bye and moving to where he cant see me, after about 5 minutes it's like he sqwarks for me to come back - when i do i do the same speaking to him and telling him how beautifull he is and then after 5 minutes saying good bye, pretty funny stuff.

i've only had the dude a couple of days and already me and my wife have fallen in love with him -

how do i start to introduce him to coming out of his cage and giving him freedom

can anybody advise me how i can tell the age of the bird ?

thanks for a great forum

regards

P.s

Mrs B has named him "Vino" after her faverote tipple
