Well, what can I say...the bird LOVES my husband's hand! He fluffs up and tries to mount it, regurgitates for him (gross!) and just won't take "no" for an answer. Pickles is around 6 yrs. old and we've had him for about 2 yrs. He was raised with a family who also had an African Gray and we adopted him for our daughter. For about 6 months, he was friendly to us all, then he "chose" my husband (who had spent more time with him because I was holding our dog each time to give the bird safe time out of the cage) and gradually began biting me (the caregiver) and barely tolerating my daughter. We've had his wings clipped as needed, despite experimenting with some flight time between clippings. It helps his mood a little, but he has clearly made his choice in the family. Also, he screams/talks constantly when my husband is in sight...demanding his attention.
Should we rehome him? Should we get a female and hope they get along? We're not really interested in breeding birds...just coexisting! We've purchased training books/tapes and are trying, but my daughter has lost interest (insulted) and I am pretty much afraid after so many bites. (He makes a point to come after me - I think he's finally being sweet but he is only wanting to come over to bite!) Help!! (Nashville, TN area)
