Feeling guilty...

Ya'll know how I have been complaining about Babys CLAWS, my god.

Well, I tried everything to get her to sit on a sand perch and she HATES it, to the point she will only play on it for a minute AT MOST.

So, this is what I've done:

I took all of her other perches out. :cry:

I only put the sand perch in there and put it where she sleeps, hangs out, and plays the most.

She isnt sensitive, like a freako when her cage is messed with so Im not worried about that aspect.

Im more worried if this is acceptable or unacceptable of me to do, for whatever reasons. I plan to put her other perches in tomorrow or the day after, depending on how her nails are.

Am I a mean Parront? Or doing whats best for Baby

She has accepted her fate and it now resting comfortably with one foot tucked. Soooo tired of her scatching up my hands... looks trashy. :oops:

Just watch for foot sores, hanging out on those perches all the time can cause them. You don't want little pink owies on her tootsies!

She HATES these perches lmao

She steps onto them like she might fall into some unknown abyss. Very funny cuz she thinks she is such a bad ****. And so isnt.

She slept on it for she had no other choice, removed all other branches and perches. TOUGH LOVE! I tried playing with her outside the cage a few times but she would only flee.

No kidding, when I grabbed her out to kiss her warm beak (that is almost as good to me as smelling a babys neck -giggle-) I could already feel a difference.

After tonight, I'll put her stuff back. She is still scrathy so one more night. During the day I'll hold her and her perch and she'll stay. I'll sorta 'log-roll' her for a bit. Grind them bad boys down.

She is so funny about her daggone feet, thats when the prissy comes out in her.

SIDENOTE about out beloved Boo:

I now know any of us could lose our babies at any time. Just experienced it. She went very fast, never even knew it. Bless her heart, she was getting a drink of water and her little heart blew up.

Vet said NO WAY she was 2 more like late teens to early 20's. Do IRN's still look that good at that late in life?

Vet also said that could account for why she was so nervous, sit in her ways, anti-social... that abuse may have NEVER been an issue. So, that makes me feel alot better. I know I was at least her 3rd Mom and now that I sit here writing this I am realizing, havent I had her for like a yr? Maybe 8-10 months? And her previous mom had her two yrs... hrm, no telling how old she was when she went to the last mom before me.

All I do know is either the vet lied to save me pain by saying it exploded, she never even felt sick. She was doing nothing more than drinking water and BAM. Never felt a thing, probably not even dizzy it happened so fast.

In reality, I KNOW her previous mom and I contributed to her high cholesterol... she got her hooked on it and I have to be honest if Im nothing else, I never took her to Betty Ford. She had a real cheese problem. If I didnt hide the cheese, she would OD on her own with no self-control.

So, even though she was much further in yrs than any of us thought I get a little comfort from that. However, I live with the 'what if I would have taken her favorite treat from her', would she still be here?

If you fo feed your bird cheese, dairy, anything we arent suppose to, realize it will eventually catch up to us. Thats the message I want to get out there.

It caught up to me and my Boo.

Its very possible for an older IRN to look gorgeous, just look at Mazzie. She was fully mature when we got her, and we've had her for almost seven years now. At her last vet visit the vet guessed she was mid teens.

I was left to believe 2... 3 NEVER in her late teens.

Her original mom is going to die when she finds out. I e-mailed her but still no response.

Yeah, she must be out of town. This isnt like her, we e-mail a few times a week with pics and such.

Clipping a birds claws is as easy as doing your own, You hold their little feet up to the light and you can usually see where the blood goes. If your timid just clip the tiniest bit so that they are blunt.

I dont think the sand perches do that much for their claws and would be more detrimental to their little feet. I even think giving them a little file if you can hold them easily would work better. but thats just me.
