Tips for interacting with IRNs with one arm

Post by ellieelectrons »

I fractured my arm last week & I'm really struggling interacting with my birds, especially our female, Janey. I can only use one hand & I find they run to my shoulder & won't get off. I'm starting to interact with them less because I find it stressful working with them. I don't like them on my shoulder because they sometimes bite ears & faces. Any tips?

um...
first of all, i'm really sorry for the fractured arm... hope it dosnt hurt... :(

have you tried training your bird to come down on command? u might reward it with a treat if they do come down...
and what about clicker training? if your bird knows that, then mayb u could use that to get them down?
or wrap a certain color cloth around your shoulders and teach them to leave that area alone wen the cloth is on?

(no expert... just trying to help...) :(
hope u get well real soon!
:D
