Good morning,
my name is Casey and I am new to this site. On weds I will be getting two five month old ring necks. They are currently with another owner who hand fed them. She said they were the sweetest birds and then about 3 weeks ago the started to get nippy and she feels she doesn't have the time to properly tame them. I have read everything I can on Ringnecks. I realize the are probably going through the bluffing stage and expect that when they arrive to me. I am not a new bird owner. I have had an African Senegal for 12 yrs. She too went through it when she was younger. My question is whether or not to keep the birds housed together or separate. She had them together for the first 3 months but separated when they started chasing each other around the cage this past month. I wasnt really sure about getting 2 since I want to bond with my birds but since they were a pair since birth and she wanted them to stay together I am taking both. Just needs some advice on what you all think. I have the cages in the same room but should I let them be together the first few days so they are more calm or start them and keep them separate for good? Oh.. pretty sure they are both males. I will be dna testing when the arrive
Thank you
Casey

well you can house them together, but they may not stay as tame if you want to handle them. They could bond to each other, or they could also not get along and fight each other a lot. I had a pair that the female would always pluck the males feathers out when they were in the same cage. If they are seperated, it would be easier for you to keep them tame and bonded to you.

That's what I figured. I am reading a lot about them not bonding to me well if the are housed together.
Thank you
