Mites
I need to ask, how do inside birds get mites? Where do they come from? Can you see them? Can humans get them? How often should you treat your bird for them? Is the spray that you spray directly on the bird safe? And again, how often do you spray them?
Re: Mites
The mites can come in on used equipment bought from an another breeder or on the bird itself or wild birds. I use a mite dust in the nest boxes at the start of each breeding season as a precaution as you don't wont a flair up during breeding season. I have never seen any mites on my birds or equipment. The sprays that are specific for mite treatment on birds are safe to use. They hide in small cracks and gaps in an around cages, mainly in timber. More active at night. If you keep your cage clean you shouldnt have a problem. You can treat a few times a year if you wanted too but my inside birds have never been treated. I guess they can bite humans but I am not too sure.
