Hi there every body just joined ur board! Bought Pepi 3 days ago at the local pet shop for $60(nzl). Pepi has got use to her new cage and family now and has started playing with toy's and climb's up the side of the cage to hang there and peer at me. ( i'll try to get sum photos) Since I got Pepi, there has been not a squawk out of him/her. Until till just b4! gave a big shrill of delight while swinging in swing. Scared the crap out of me!
Is it normal for IRN's to be so quite while settling in? And can sumone tell me why Pepi's discription (below) has difference's from the general Green IRN?
cheers guys, catch you later

Hi and Welcome
Datsun was also quiet for a few days when we first got him... trust me it wears off
but they are still quieter than many other birds I have met.
Where did you get him/her from for $60? I paid $195 for Dats at the Bird Barn in Auckland but he is worth every cent!
Was your bird hand reared? How old is he/she?
As for its colouring.... Datsun has a red with some black beak, orange 'eyeliner', and greyish feet.
Have fun with your new family member!

I live in Masterton, and got pepi from 'Seed co and pet shop.' they sell green indian ringnecks for $60 (youngsters or mature) blue indian ringneck's for $225 and yellow one's for $160. I think pepi may have been handled at some stage cos s/hes not shy, gets scared if u try to touch her though. S/he's quite young, came out of it's nest in december.
They don't appear to have access to hand-reared one's cos they worth more and they usally say that sorta info on the signs on the birds cages. Although, I thought pepi was rather cheap, so who can tell with them? how old is datsun, and wat have you trained him to do? was he hand reared?

Hi,
Datsun is 15 or so weeks old and was hand reared.
I got him Dec 31st and he can wolf whistle, shake hands occasionally, displays on command but by far the most exciting is that he has started mumbling words... we cant quite understand him yet but some sound like hello and pretty boy.
If you keep bonding with Pepi he will soon warm to being held, these guys are terribly social and curious creatures who just love to be the centre of attention.
Patience and food will be the key to taming/training your wee one.
Good Luck and enjoy it!
