nest box placement
I have a pair that are in a flight cage that is 5 feet tall (4 feet of this is the actual cage space). It is 36" wide and 24" deep. They are very bonded and feed each other. I put the nest box on the outside where there is an opening The entrance hole is about 2 feet from the top and bottom of the cage. It has a wire porch that I hung on the side of the cage in front of the nest box. They are just starting to explore the porch and look in the box. Is the nest box placement ok? I would have put it higher but that is where the opening is. She is 2 and he is 10 and they spend a lot of time snuggling up together. They are at one end of the screen porch where I have lots of birds in flight cages and I locked the door at that end so no one can walk past them and only I will go near the cage to feed them. He is blue cinnamon and she is green violet so I am anxious to see what happens with this pair.
Re: nest box placement
The nest box should be fine. When they are ready they will use it.
