Hallo Everyone - A big hi from south africa and congratulations on a very helpfull site. Hopefully you already deduct that i am afrikaans speaking and that will explain why there may be some not so understandable questions. Please ask for better explanations.
One other thing is that we(the wife and me) are about 7 decades older than most of our birds but that doesn't mean that we are not "cool" any more.
Our birds are a family hobby and my wife keep herself busy with canaries, budgies, diamond doves, zebra finches and chinese qail. I am busy with 13 irn's at this stage. All our birds are in outside aviaries and although temps can get very low we didn't have any serious problems.
Enough for now. Good luck to all our friends keeping birds. At least our great grand children will be able to see our feathered friends in cages, if not in the wild.
Regards
Schalk

Welcome to IRN, Schalk.
So you are a 'well seasoned' member
......never to old (or young) to chat about birds, or any animal for that matter.
What colour ringies do you currently have?

Hi, welcome to the forum. Do you have any pictures to share with us. I just got an IRN last week. He is blue and his name is Rio, I do have other birds and have been into birds for 30 years.
See you on the forum.

Re: Introduction
Good day to all of you - At this stage i've got 1x lutino pair, 2 x blue pairs, 1 x green pair, a single gray female and a few young birds. My breeding cages are not quite finished. Busy now to rustproof the frames and then finish with 10 x 25mm wire. I would love to send in some photos, but that will have to wait until i am finished with all i want to do.
The cages I am busy with are for 2 breeding pairs and measures 900 x 1800 x H1800. Our breeding season starts in August and i must be ready by that time. All the other irn's are in a big aviary and they had a successful breeding season last year.
My budgies are still going mad. 6 Boxes, all with eggs, some with small ones. Same with my Zebras. My Japanese qail are a little bit slow, maybe because they were moved to another aviary with my wife's canaries.
Until next time - enjoy our hobby
