Alexandrines and Eclectus as pets?

So i Know some of you own eckies and alex's so im wondering if you can tell me what their like as pets?

I would like to know feeding requirements, cage sizes, how much interaction they need, what toys they like, how they are with other birds (i have a conure and an IRN) and anything else you can think of!

I would love a "bigger" bird but i want to make sure i get the right species and that i know how to look after it. I know that i can google this information but i would prefere to learn for people who have these birds are handraised pets.

Any information would be greatly apreciated!

That's the conclusion I came to as well. Since my two dream birds are a vos ekkie and a green-wing macaw... I decided to just stick with Hane for now! Someday that might change, but right now Hane is all I can handle.

Nope. They aren't on my list of wants. I do tend to think of them as a larger version of IRNs.

Also thinking about a cockatiel, i know their not a bird bird but big birds seem to have big requirements.

Larger birds do have more needs. Physically, emotionally, and monetarily.

Tiels are cute and often sweet. Males have a tendency to scream (personal experience) but my female is very quiet. Have you looked at any of the pyrrhura conures? They are small, animated, and known for being quiet enough for apartments.

She is a female cinnamon green cheek conure. I have had her for 2 years now

Birds of all types and sizes are going to bite thats just what they do as for ekkies the males seem to be much calmer then the females and they do require a more fresh food diet and not so much seed and pellet diet. they do make a special formulated pellet for ekkies. Hope this helps. Donna

I know all birds bite, well exept for Gluttony my IRN, his 6 months old and has not bitten me yet.
Alex's never seem to like me though, they bite me until I have bruises or worse. I have only met one that I have liked but unfortuantly he got sick and died

Mika doesnt know how to bite people, he thinks putting his beak on us is bitting. I hand raised him from really young and he never learnt. He really is a big softy and a really funny bird to have around.
