Apologies for not posting for awhile, but I had a lot of moving to do. Ink travels incredibly well. :D
Anyway, my next big thing to teach Ink has been flight suit training (The next thing will be recall. :T) and I just wanted to share with all of you that I think she's finally done it!
She didn't particularly like it at first and was always biting it but the last few days she's been able to be in it and simply preened the feathers around it, rather than trying to tear it apart.
I have to say I love this. She is a much better house guest with it on (no surprises on the furniture) and I got a "training" flight suit. Which costs less because...it's white. They generally have pretty little designs and such, but the white one words very well for me because it blends in with her feathers. A lot of people don't even notice. (though I do get "why are her feathers like that?" a lot)
I have to say that I am very happy right now and I'll be uploading a video of her in her suit soon. :3

Well done! Good job!
I have given up on harness training for the time being. It freaked her out too much. I think I should have done it when she was younger.
I hope your move went well.
Ellie.

Re: Flight Suit!
Ink is still harness training. .3. I mean, I guess the suit could be a harness but part of me feels way too insecure about it being velcro closure, you know? I suppose she'd probably be fine but...I got an aviator anyway. We haven't been practicing with that very much at all, though. One step at a time. XD;
Are you not wanting to harness train anymore or are you just waiting to gain some trust back?

Re: Flight Suit!
I don't think I could get either of them in a suit... whilst they'll sit on my hand and Janey will let me pat her, she doesn't let us pick her up like Ink does.
The last time I had a problem with the aviator harness, my husband wanted to throw the harness away, because it upset Janey so much.... I managed to get her to put her head through the loop for a treat... but if it got stuck on her head, that's when she'd freak out. I need to find some way of getting her used to having something hang around her neck.
I didn't throw the harness away.... I dredge it out every now and again for them to look at again... but they're not that comfortable with it.... so we'll see... I figure I've got another 20 - 30 years to try to figure it out!
Unfortunately, Janey and Charlie aren't nearly as compliant as Ink.
I decided instead to focus on some more "trick" behaviours... at the moment, they're learning the difference between red and blue which is fun... and I'm trying to train them to stay on my hand and not wander up to my shoulder all the time.
Ellie.

Re: Flight Suit!
Hm...you could try using a big loop of yarn of the same color as your harness?
Size does seem to be an issue regarding getting used to it. I saw a woman train her conure to wear one, by using a harness meant for CAGs and the like on it first. Worked very well for her. Of course, she had the Congo too so it was a harness she had lying around rather than buying two. (Those things aren't cheap, even more so if it's really not going to be used.)
I can't wait to teach Ink colors!
But first recall. Don't distract me, Ellie. :P
