Hello good people :)

Post by zarma »

My name is Vladimir,i am from Serbia.
Few days ago my friend gave me his IRN called Djura :) .Friend has a baby now and the bird was too loud so he gave him to me as a gift.
Friend bought him around summer time this year, but we don't know how old is he really. This is my first IRN so i can't be sure, but i think his ring is starting to grow, what do you think how old is he?
Here is a pic..

Also,he is very scared and screams when I change his food or cage, but he seems very curious and he whistles and sings every morning and it's adorable. :)
I plan to clip his wings and let him out soon (week or two) form the cage a little (he has never been outside of cage :( ),do you think that's smart or should I give him more time to adapt?

Hello Vladimir.

Hard to predict age but it is a cutie. :)

He may not be a tame or handraised bird. If this is so, then it could take some time to gain his trust. Just take things slow and let him guide you as to how fast to move to the next level.
Good luck. :)

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay

Hello everyone, thanks for your reply :D

As you can see in the picture he/she has a small grey ring and another one which is light green,so now I'm confused with his sex,but i think it's a male
I gave him a mirror to look at it and first time he saw himself,he spread his wings and raise his chest high, that's a male "greeting" right?
Anyway,I let him out to explore the room,he is very calm and accepts food from my hand,he enters and leaves the cage when he wants, sings every morning at first sunshine :D
I did not clip his wings yet,the room is very safe and i have curtain on windows so he can't hit it while flying.
He is still afraid to come down to lower part of the room (table, bed etc) but he is very curios and looks down like he wants to land a bit lower, also he wants to bite me when I put my hand near him (or my face to kiss him,he bit me once and it hurt like hell xD).By my opinion we made a huge progress for just one week, before he was with me he was very scared and flew all around the cage when someone gets near it.I will post our progress next week :D
Thanks again,Vladimir
@Melika,Dobar Dan to you too :D
