Well it's over as far as I go - as for everyone in the house, well that's another matter. Now I hope I haven't spoken too soon - but I've given it about a month or so and there is no sign of lunging or biting me (apart from when I accidentally lean on her foot or something - then I cop it!). In fact she is sooooo sooky with me that everyone else reckons it's making them sick to see us together. As soon as she sees me she does the begging thing - neck out, mouth open, little squeak comes out - then I have to pick her up and hold her right up to my chest while she does the sooky stance and makes little whimpering noises - to the point that it almost sounds like she's crying. Then trying to get her back on her perch is next too impossible - she grips my finger so tight that I have to pry her off - one foot then the other. What a trial!
At night she turns into a cat. Sits on my belly and has a clean, then lets me scratch her head and neck until she is once again in raptures. She ends up with the side of her head leaning on me, almost lying down. I love it! I didn't think I would ever get to this stage of interaction with my bird but it is just wonderful. It just goes to show that even the most vicious of birds is not beyond hope (and trust me, she was evil when she wanted to be). I'm so pleased that she has finally come through this stage - I just hope it's lasts forever. I still have fears that she is going to revert but for now it's so great.
Sorry for prattling on but I had never had any contact with pet birds at all before her and now I am a total convert. Whoever says that these don't make great pets is obviously generalising. Sure some don't but it just goes to show if you put in the effort the rewards are so gratifying.
Bluffing is over!
