Its possible to breed with handfed hand tame, birds but its also possible that the bird wont know what to do because it simply doesnt know how to do "breeding" bird things.

Why is the bird being handfed from day 1?? was the parents of this bird not feeding it??

I know a few people who have hand raised birds who have bred successfully.

I have a hand raised girl who bred last year and looked like she was going to be a great mum except her eggs were duds, (he first season). She was very protective of her eggs and would not let me see them. Hopefully this year will be better and I will be able to let you know of the outcome. :)

I also have an aviary bred hen that has not successfully hatched any of her eggs. Not sure if a hen or male problem. Have teamed her up with a new male for this coming season. See what it will bring. :)

Each bird is different though.

The breeder from whom i am going to buy them told me that their parents were first time breeders and when they hatched they did not feed them. The first chick died so he had to pull them for handfeeding.btw thanks for you replies.

if got hand raised irns in my aviarys they are andraised so they dont bite but they wont strp onto u. they are both showing signs in the boxes and it is wonderfull to be able to go down to the aviarys and have them fly to the front and eat apple and corn out of your fingers. mine both like head scratches and whistle and try to talk its really nice addition to my aviarys. they also teach there partners to trust you to.

cheers
nick.
