Speedminton anyone???

Post by smallworld »

Ok so we went out and bought a speedminton set. S70 beginners set that comes with 2 rackets, 3 shuttles and a speed ring. It cost 50 euros in all.

After watching some people on youtube play it, I thought ok I should give it a try. I just cant get the hang of it!!! 2 hours later we were still picking the shuttle up more than we were hitting it! It says the shuttle can go up to speeds of 290km/h. I wasnt surprised at all. One second I'm hitting it and the next second, its back. I also notice that unlike squash or badminton or tennis, you dont need to put any energy at all into the shot. It just flies so easily!

The shuttle makes this buzzing sound everytime and thats kinda cool. So we tried everything moving nearer and further to see if we could keep a volley going. But it didnt work. 5 shots back and forth were the max. Everytime I backhanded the shuttle flew way too far :|

So I thought I'd put it up on this lounge and see if anyone else here has tried it and has some tips. I cant wait to try the glow in the dark version, called Blackminton. :D

Ha Ha Ha! Sounds like fun! When i do try to play I'll just go to the park to be sure i can hit the shuttle! LoL! I'll spend some time just bouncing it up in the air while i chase it with my racket to get my coordination up--but just watching me you would swear i am only 4 years old.

It's fun none-the-less, no matter how foolish i look :P

Best Wishes  ,

Haha yeah we play in the park too. But i think it would be more visible indoors. We played it again yesterday for another 2 hours and we were much better. Actually managed an average volley of 14 hits. But you're right its fun and really fast. I was surprised to see the only difference between the match and fun speeder, is that the hole on the fun speeder is not complete. On the match speeder, its complete and the speeder flies faster. When we get better, we'll try the blackminton version.
