IRN interaction with other parrots?

Is IRN good with other species outside the cage? Your experience?

Good question! It really depends on the birds personalities. Some birds will NEVER adapt to other parrots while some will. For example, my Archimedes is really a nice bird. I can place him with almost any bird and I know he will not attack them. In fact, it’s quite funny while I am hand feeding baby parrots, he’ll come down my arm to inspect them and then talk for some baby formula.

His sister Regan is a female ringneck and she is a monster to both birds and humans. She will not tolerate ANY other bird—period! She only likes me and my twin—no one else. She is so particular about other people/ birds being in her space.

My African grey on the other hand cannot be with birds as I know he would kill him! When he was a baby he was fine but as he reached sexually maturity he makes it loud and clear that everything is his. He has bitten my hand and arms so bad that I swear he is Cujo. If Archimedes lands on his cage he’ll dark in his direction trying to kill him!

Other parrots I have seen are completely different. My brother’s wife’s parrots all intermingle with eachother—conures and ringnecks—no problem. So use your best judgment and try to profile your parrot. If you believe he/she can’t be with other birds then it’s probably true!

Hope this helps!

My sister's IRN is pretty nice to other birds. Actually he just ignores them (I think he's a little afraid). Whereas my IRN can be quite the bully. Hane is not nice at all to my tiel. Since they have such strong beaks and can do damage, we don't even leave them together (the IRNs) without supervision- just in case. My tiel is never on the playstand with them.

They each get their own food dish since they share the playstand, otherwise they will fight over the food.

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay

My ringy ok with other birds. He flys over to the macaws stand. Feeds a rainbow and talks to a galah and 'Too.

My young IRN terrorizes the cockatiel in their large cage.
Always running after her tail feathers
and just plain showing her dominance
by not letting the tiel eat after she's had her fill,
bumping her off the favorite perch...
not friendly at all, to say the least.

Have personally known 2 ringnecks - 1 mine, 1 my sisters.
both were bad with other birds.
my sisters bird was a bully, very mean to the other birds.
mine is a psycho and must be supervised at all times or she will hunt down and try to kill the other birds. think she would prefer to be an only child.
but there are heaps of youtube videos of IRNs that get along fine with other birds...?

good luck.
